Kai took a quick glance around, before bowing his head down, his right hand on his left breast. I stepped forward. “This is Kai,” I introduced. “He’s proved himself to be worthy of contributing to the glory of this pack.” I picked a bowl up, making Kai say the oath of commitment and secrecy. After he was done, I gave him a small nod to cut himself but he kept staring at me like a fool. “Pour your damn blood in it,” I said through gritted teeth. He leans forward, looking into the bowl. “No one told me that the pillars of this pack were a cult,” he joked.

Warm, cozy, loving, a home filled with people and the hint of cocoa and magic in the air. Pulling myself away from the only happy memory I had of my family, I started tapping on the keyboard. Sometime later, when my mug was already empty and the clock on the TV showed 2 AM, I had my new blog story finished in front of me. “Hey, my alluring fans! Who probably doesn’t want to laugh in case it gives her wrinkles. “Yeah, we’re not exactly the typical love story. But Kennedy told you about her and Cas marriage?” I asked Kai. I didn't think she would want people to know the truth.

Kai turned to see a tall guy with sandy hair approaching. The stranger moved with the easy grace of someone who'd never doubted his place in the world. "Marcus Chen," the guy said, extending his hand. "Future beta of the Northern California pack. You're Kai Storm, right? Heard you're supposed to be some kind of prodigy." Kai shook his hand, careful not to grip too tight. These werewolves were strong, but they were nothing compared to what he really was.
