She doubted a zombie would be able to locate her there, even an advanced zombie. One of the things about zombies that stayed with them, no matter how much of their thinking and motor skills returned was the fact that they had poor night vision, depth perception, and were color blind. Those factors went in her favor since the opening to the root cellar was beneath a very realistic looking shrub that was attached to the trap door. Its coloring varied from those it was amongst only by the slightest degree and, unless you ran your hand over it, you’d never guess it wasn’t real. Combine that to the fact that it was nighttime, and she felt safe in her selection of hiding places.

"Dr. Cloude, two more wanderers have been discovered in Zone B7." I raised an eyebrow. "The same pair as before?" "Yes," he replied in a hushed tone. "The man is partially blind. The woman is completely zombified but still conscious. She's restrained." For the past year, Hans and Winnie had wandered like ghosts around the perimeter of various safe zones. At the broken edges of the wound, a section of stark white bone was exposed. The bone was covered in scratches from the stainless steel cuffs. When the zombie saw them, it lunged wildly. The cuffs rattled loudly as it yanked against them, bone grinding harshly against metal. "Raarh!" Whoosh! An arrow wrapped in flames shot through the air and straight into its open mouth. The shot pierced clean through its head, and fire instantly engulfed it. As the zombie shrieked, Zach followed up with a blast of water, slamming into its burning head. The flames were extinguished, and so was the zombie.

He levels the pistol at Pink Bunny and pulls the trigger twice. One round sparks off Pink Bunny’s rifle, while another plows through his helmet with a loud thump that sounds like a baseball bat smacking a mattress. Tufts of pink fur and white stuffing shoot from the exit hole, and Pink Bunny drops the rifle, fluffy hands rising for the sky. “Pussy,” Big Jim says, and fires again. This shot punches through one of Pink Bunny’s plastic eyes, shattering it, and the furry flops backward, gun clattering to the pavement.

“What do you have for us today, Zack?” Zack smiled, revealing his straight white teeth. “This is Cody Wilks. He’s the coroner from Wolf’s Hospital on Main Street Downtown.” Cody nodded, looking nervous. His gaze bounced around the room and never landed on me. “After learning about this rare wolfsbane and Kael trying to take over the mines. I started to think maybe his grasp for power started sooner than we think. So, I did some digging around.” Zack walked past Clare to the window.

But my optimism was dwindling. Fox brought the box over to the rickety table we sat at the night before, and waved her hands around it as if to say, “ta-da!” The stone floor against my bare feet sent a quick chill up my spine as I inspected the box. It was white cardboard, with a insignia of a blue eye stamped on the sides. As I reached for it a familiar smell hit my nose, I crinkled it in disgust. “VIXEN!” Fox yelled out swatting the air around her.

Yet, he dropped into a swift side roll, grabbed a steel pipe, and smashed it hard. He might have been the team's weakest link, but he was still miles better than Esmeralda. I tuned him out and focused only on mowing down the horde of zombies that kept pouring in. Noah, however, looked like a different person. He weaved through the horde with quick, precise strikes. When the last zombie dropped dead, only our ragged breathing remained in the lab. Fortunately, we had stocked up on ammunition and weapons before setting out, and we were in better shape than before. That was the only reason we made it out unscathed.

Evelyn POV “Phantom there's no way in hell I am wearing this!” Zombie complained as he held the pink t-shirt that read: ‘Down to DEFCON’. Buddha walked into the conference room with a huge smile on his face. “I don’t know Z, this shirt is pretty awesome.” He looked down at his own pink t-shirt that he had cut into a tank top. “I think pink is our color.” Zombie rolled his eyes. “You don’t even understand computers but yet you are wearing a shirt that only makes sense to computer people!”
