This is amazing! It is almost as impressive as the library in the castle. I started to walk through the aisles and read the book names. Some of these books are very old. This pack must have been one of the first to have been established by the lycans all those years ago when they were created or at least when their numbers strted to grow.

Something—anything—that would drown out the him of my beast. My eyes landed on a thick volume about ancient Lycan myths. It had always been a favorite of mine, and it usually worked to quiet the noise in my head. Maybe it could help now. I grabbed the book and dropped into the nearest chair, flipping through the pages. My hands trembled slightly as I turned each page, even as the words blurred together in front of me. I forced myself to focus on the text, reading about the great wars between packs and the legends of the First Alphas.

“Can I have my library book back?” I looked under the shelf and tensed when I spotted The Legend of Lycaon gleaming in the shadows like some ancient relic waiting to be discovered. I picked it up, held it out, and gestured toward it. “Why do you want this?” This was not just any book. This was a Greek mythology text about the first lycan. Clara drew in a sharp breath and chewed the inside of her lip, meeting my eyes for only a second before looking away as if she feared my reaction. “Because I do …”

Even as Jenny lay in bed that night, she had her mind set on what the next day would bring. Her eyes were on the ceiling, but she saw nothing of the shadows that lay there whenever the lights were turned off. All she had her mind on was seeing if this Lycan was the one who saved her, the Stranger.

They won the war. They had lost twenty Lycans from their side and most were injured. The healing chambers were flooded with injured men while the women busied themselves with helping the healer. While a few busied themselves in powdering the herbal ingredients, the other women cleaned the wounds and applied the herbal mix.

I don’t want to have to go through all of this when I should be trying on tuxes.” I just shake my head, laughing as I arrange the books on the shelves so we could have a better look at their titles. “Well don’t have to go through them all just today. It would be nice just to get started.” August doesn’t say anything again, but I know what his state of mind is when he starts to hum while poring through the titles. “All of these are mostly about history.
