CHECKMATE, DARLING
"What is that? That knight does nothing!"
He ignored the knight and pushed his pawn to h6, threatening checkmate on g7.
"Checkmate in two, Mira!" Arthur declared loudly, turning his head slightly toward Lord Sterling with a triumphant grin.
"Look at f3, Arthur," I said softly.
Arthur’s eyes snapped back to the board.
My knight wasn't attacking his king. It was controlling the f3 square. And behind my knight, my queen had slipped silently onto d5, creating a deadly, invisible battery targeting his undefended back rank.
