LILY’S POV The hospital halls were busy with people going about their morning business, but I felt like I was walking through fog. Last day was still fresh in my mind. Isaac, no-Cobra, showed me a side of him I didn't know he had. A picture of him standing over the dead body of the man he killed, gun in hand, kept coming back to me. I saw it again every time I closed my eyes. And his words kept going through my mind: Monster.

Cole asked, looking over his shoulder at Isabelle that was plastered to his back. “Yes,” Isabelle replied, sounding breathless. “Jason?!” Cole called out. “I’m good!” Jason answered. “We are exposed here,” Cole said, silently cursing. “It is still the best height though, makes it easier to get ‘em crafts,” Jason replied. “Are you guys okay?” Xavier asked. “That's one hell of a way to start a fight,” Xavier said chuckling. “Aww… that little thing? We are just warming up!” Jason replied. Cole chuckled.

Mike Freeway wasn't the only man in Coal City with a nose for fast money. Joe Collins—just as well recognized in the back room's smoky atmosphere as J. Cole—had a gift for smelling opportunity where other men smelled gunpowder. Tall, dark, and patient, Cole lived on very little. His greasy black hair clung to his skull, his pencil-line moustache curled into a snarl, and his chin, shadowed blue from the previous night's shaving, was rarely tobacco-stained.

"And who is this? Not a boyfriend already, squirt. You know you're only allowed to date when you're thirty." I laughed and shook my head at his teasing. "Leave the child alone, Hank," Jay retorted, motioning for Cole to join us. "This is Cole, he's helping us out for a week while we wait for the parts needed to fix his Suzuki." Cole shook the older men's hands and greeted them politely before he excused himself and went back to work. "I'm glad you're here, I've got something I need to discuss with you," Jay turned serious. "It's about Jason."

What did I get myself into? He stood and advanced towards me in an unfriendly manner, I took wary steps backwards. “Exactly what you heard me say, Ayla. You intentionally spilled coffee on me just to get me to notice you. You left the normal elevator and came to the VIP elevator because you knew I’d be there.” “What?! I don’t understand what you’re talking about?” What kind of a brute was he? Was this how he was? The Almighty CEO Jaxon of XM company. The youngest billionaire in the country. Was he naturally like this or money was making him arrogant?

“Come on dad, just let me try one time. One sparring session with Alpha Daniel. Please?” Jaxson stands there contemplating whether he should let his youngest spar with his nephew and just let him learn this lesson on his own and see if this will teach him to take his time with training. When he looks over between Daniel and John and they give him a nod in approval and when John links Jaxson to give him a shot, Jaxson sighs in contempt and looks back to his little twin, the only son he has and the boy who could be his twin if he were older.

'How come that guy walks just like the CEO? 'You want to quit your job, right? I'll help you.' Joel smirked as he walked down the corridor of the 16th floor.

Valerie: Morning sunlight spilled across the terrace, warm and soft against my skin as I stepped outside. The breeze carried the faint scent of pine and fresh earth, the quiet hum of the pack grounds far below. Everything felt calmer now, steadier, like the world had finally exhaled after months of choking tension. “Val.” I turned. Xavier stood in the doorway, dressed in a dark shirt with the sleeves rolled to his forearms. His eyes, those steady storm-blue eyes, held something different today. A warmth. A nervousness. A spark I hadn’t seen since the very beginning.

She removed the tracker on his sleeve and took a picture of his ID card and then of him. Sending the first picture to a contact saved as Lewis on her phone, she instructed that he dug up every dirt on him and sent it to her in less than thirty minutes.
