We both took a seat, at the circular table and I sat next to Nolan and Leah. "So Cole, tell us about yourself?", Clay asked as he served food for Leah. You could tell Clay had felt nervous about today too. Cole, loosens his black tie and takes a deep breath before the questions begin to float to the front of Clay's mind. "Well, I'm a software engineer and I'm originally from Ashford Seattle, and well I like your daughter very much and I guess that's it", he said abruptly as I could tell that Clay had his mind running from his heart, he could see that Cole, really had liked her.

Amelia tapped her finger on the table: "Next, talked a bit about how to keep the risk as low as possible..." At this point, the meeting room finally got to the real meeting stuff. And President Cooley downstairs, who had just been released from the spell, had no idea what was going on. He only knew that the Cromwell family girl didn't know the rules and kept embarrassing him in public. "I had to let this Cromwell guy know what would happen if he messed with me!" President Cooley spoke as he dialed a number, "Over at the farmers' market, go take care of something for me! What are you afraid of, relax, with the young masters and ladies backing our chamber of commerce, nothing's a problem."

“Just something fun.” A laugh escapes me before I can stop it, light and startled. “Something fun,” I echo. “Like what?” Cole leans forward, his elbows on his knees, his eyes bright with that restless, infectious energy of his. “I am working on ideas. Still narrowing them down between mystery and chaos.” “Oh goddess,” I mutter, rubbing a hand down my face. “That sounds dangerous.” “You need a little dangerous,” he counters gently. “Not the world ending kind. The good kind. The kind that reminds you, you are alive and not just… surviving.”

Cole suddenly said, “I have something that I would like to check with you first, Mr. Yarde.” Kayson nodded. “Speak your mind.” Cole did not speak, but his gaze turned solemn. He suddenly swung a punch at Kayson!

God knows where she was this time — probably writing more lies in some group chat or posting passive-aggressive stories online. I pulled my hoodie up and lay flat on the floor, trying to finish a drawing of an eye I hadn’t looked at in a while. I wasn’t even sure whose eye it was — a stranger’s, or maybe my own, tired one. Then the door creaked open. “Hey,” Cole said. Not loud. His voice sounded tired, but with a kind of calm. “Knock knock,” he added, even though he was already halfway in, holding two mugs of hot chocolate.

Meanwhile, Lily is sitting beside Oliver’s baby chair showing him pictures of dresses on a tablet even though he’s four months old and literally cannot care. “This one is prettier,” she tells him seriously. Oliver drools on himself. Cole walks into the kitchen halfway through the chaos wearing a black t-shirt and jeans, Oliver’s bottle in one hand and his phone in the other. “What’s happening now,” he asks carefully. “Your future wife hates joy,” Rhea replies instantly. “I hate stupid wedding entrances,” I correct. Cole glances at me. Then at Rhea. Then at Jax. “I stay out of these conversations for personal reasons,” he says before grabbing coffee.

I was thinking too much about it. But I still felt off. My hand moved to my chest and I looked at the door. Why does it feel like something struck me? Cole came back in holding nylon bags. “Got it.” He set the food on the movable plastic table, moved it to me, and offered me a spoon. I took it and ate a spoonful. The sweet taste melted in my mouth. “Like it?” Cole asked. I nodded excitedly and kept eating. “It’s great.” A ringing sound came. Cole looked at his pocket, took out his phone, stared at it but didn’t pick up.

Walker responds and we all consider that for a moment. “Fuck. I’m so tired of these maybes and guesses. We need to find solid proof of who’s doing this. I hate this feeling.” Cole says and I look at him, “What feeling?” I ask. He looks at me cryptically, “Like everything’s about to fall apart.”

“He could even log into my blog and do something drastic.” “Then we don’t give him the twenty minutes.” “We don’t let him near my phone. Period.” “Cole?” “Cole stays inside. Keeps feeding us intel. If Caleb’s planning something for the championship, Cole’s the only person close enough to see it coming.” I hung up.
