Dirty Family Secrets

Dirty Family Secrets

I was surprised to see the Colonel has flown in four pipers, people he could trust, and they formed an honor guard, two in front and two behind, playing 'Scotland the Brave' as we walked to the center of the village. Laibon looked on in pure amazement at the creature before him, and his companion. They looked like demons from an old folk tale. For the first time it occurred to him he may lose. He shook off the thought. This was a man before him, and soon his red blood would cover the blue paint. The Chief asked again that they not do this, and when both refused he asked that they stop short of death, if one was bested the fight was over. The foreign devil agreed, Laibon did not.

Not Your Typical Live-In Son-In-Law

Not Your Typical Live-In Son-In-Law

“The wind shifted. You feel it too, don’t you?” Julian closed his book. “Yes.” She finally looked at him. “Who?” “Her name is Mirra Quell,” Julian said. “She’s not like the others.” Charlotte studied him. “Is she a problem?” Julian shook his head. “She’s a signal.” “Of what?” He stood slowly, walked to the bar, and poured them each a neat scotch. He handed her one. “That we’ve leveled up.”

A Squire's Journey

A Squire's Journey

Using Abigail's weapon, John easily breaks their defense, sending the spearmen terrified, while his accompanying hunters easily pick their enemies. "For Tarwood!" John bellowed, Bane gleaming as he led the charge. The hunters roared beside him, crashing into the Inquisition ranks. They closed the gap and locked in with the main Inquisition forces. The catapults are now unable to aim at their enemies or risk hitting their soldiers.

The Pack's Nemesis

The Pack's Nemesis

I’m still not sure what it means that he hasn’t introduced me to his Beta when the warriors walk up and one, in particular, looks me over like he thinks he’ll get his chance with me after Quirin is done with me. “Who’s the peach?” he asks. Faster than a viper’s strike, Quirin has the man by his throat and off his feet. The man’s eyes go wide as Quirin growls a low, angry growl that is somehow more menacing than a snarl because of its controlled fury. It promises a slow, painful death from someone capable of such violence, and someone who revels in it.

This is one of the best of Cooper’s writing. You will be completely drawn to both characters and their struggles to find peace. Although I love the Pack’s Doctor, I find myself rereading this one more.

Alpha's Last Chance

Alpha's Last Chance

Quillion Van Kirk, with his signature crimson cloak billowing behind him, turned the corner, nearly colliding with Elder Mauritius Carmichael. Elder Mauritius, clad in his dark ceremonial robes, his salt and pepper hair glinting in the light, steadied himself. His piercing gaze locked onto Quillion, the weight of decades reflected in his storm-gray eyes. "It’s time to end this, Quillion," he said, his voice as sharp and unyielding as the edge of a blade. “Time to face our old friend Marcus Fitz.” The name sent a heavy punch in his gut. Quillion’s jaw tightened, his pale blue eyes narrowing. His hand instinctively brushed against the hilt of his sword, the faint hum of latent power rippling t

Claiming His Queen

Claiming His Queen

Reaching the coastline at the same time, the sun decided to call it a day, and there it was: one of Victor's babies. So, hopping on it, he winced at the blaring music and the chants, vibrating his eardrums. Something was appealing about gunshots that wasn't in blaring music. But the guests weren't thinking the same way. Victor's party's approved colors had always been white, and the obedient guests had their fingers around glasses as they chanted words he couldn't place his fingers on. Standing with his back turned to the stanchion, active pupils set to work, searching for her among the crowd. There was every chance she wasn't a part of the dancing bodies shaking the ship.

The Alpha Queen's Revenge

The Alpha Queen's Revenge

a different soldier scoffs at us. “You’re wrong, by witch-law I demand to see the Queen.” “How does she know witch-law, Cade?” the first soldier asks the one who looks to be the captain of these men. “Shut up, Luther.” Cade tells him. Turning back to face me he asks, “How do you know about witch-law Lycan, for no witch has ever helped a Lycan.” “Take me to the Queen and we shall see if I am Lycan or if I’m her niece.” I demand.
