A Marriage of Convenience
Six weeks later, I’m still mending my broken soul, but right now, it feels like a piece of it was just taped back into place.
“Is this the moment where the two of you confess your undying love to one another?” Chris whines, dipping his finger in the brownie batter.
“Hey!” I grit out, snatching the bowl and breaking the moment that Shawn and I were sharing. “No batter unless you’re joining in on the fun.”
“And clean up,” Shawn smirks.
Chris walks over, his eyes narrow on me. He dips his index finger in the batter, waggling the now covered finger in my face while shimmying backwards, “My heart is like an open highway.” Chris’ hand clenches into a fist, creating a fake microphone.
