I was curious how emotional arcs were structured.” Christopher leaned closer to Lu and stage-whispered, “Some of them were very emotionally structured. Especially the ones with the shirtless men on the covers.” I tilted my head, deadpan. “At least they weren’t about knights and dragons like yours.” “Oh they were! But mine had duels. Yours had duels of passion.”

That photograph was our story, captured in one still frame. I sipped my coffee and exhaled slowly. My novels had always been about love, hope, and perseverance, themes that had grown naturally out of my own life experiences. But lately, I’d been thinking about Luca and Emilia, about how much they’d grown and how they saw the world. I wondered what kind of stories they would want to read, what tales might help them understand themselves and others better.

It's either history, military, or supernatural romances. I've never understood why so many people preferred such kinds of novels and genres all that much. Though, I meant that for the latter part. They're basically the same every single time. An average lady meets one sexy, handsome, extraordinary man, or two hot males battle over her, and there's usually some ridiculous drama that brings her further and deeper together with the men, and then she has to choose the obvious decision. Everyone had predicted her decision since the very beginning of the chapter. "And they're usually sequels or fantasy epics," I mumbled to myself.

Without you all, I might have stopped halfway through the novel itself. Been working on this novel for just about two years straight with a few breaks here and there. Writing the novel energized me greatly, mainly because I’ve had a ton of humanist themes I’ve wanted to explore through writing. You know, like most good science fiction and space opera stories. =) Ravens of Eternity in particular has so many themes about power, corruption, identity, purpose, and togetherness. I tried my best to weave all of these into the narrative through a myriad of characters, and I hope I was able to accomplish it well.

Every novel worthy of the name is like another planet, whether large or small, which has its own laws just as it has its own flora and fauna. Thus, Faulkner's technique is certainly the best one with which to paint Faulkner's world, and Kafka's nightmare has produced its own myths that make it communicable. Only once I arrived in this world did I find them dull because I could actually experience all of the delights and aspirations described in those works.
