“If you break the glass with that key, the corruption jumps to Maya! You save her life, but you’ll destroy her soul!”
Julian froze. He stared at the key, at the mask creeping across his skin, at Maya about to press Enter.
“I don’t care about my soul,” he whispered.
He didn’t strike the glass again. He turned the key inward, toward his own chest.
“What are you doing?” The businessman finally showed a flicker of fear.
“I’m a glitch,” Julian said, looking at Maya through the glass. “It’s my job to break the system from inside.”
He plunged the key into his heart.
