“I’ve sent all the supporting documents to your email, but you’ll need the background to understand what you’re looking at.” No one spoke. The room felt still, every breath held back. “Hannah Connor,” he began, “is the younger sister of Rachel Connor, the late heiress of Blackridge Maritime Group. There’s another sister, Blake Connor, but she avoids public attention. From what I gathered, she’s the mother of Drake Connor, the current assistant CEO.” Cassie’s fingers slowly curled against Franklin’s arm, her body growing tense, though she didn’t interrupt, didn’t say a word, as if something deep inside her already sensed where this was going.

Across the parking lot, Connor leaned against his car, backpack slung over one shoulder, smiling like the world belonged to him — or maybe like I belonged to him . “Hey, Sparrow!” he called. Chelsea and Laila stopped in mid-step, eyebrows raised. “Sparrow?” Chelsea whispered. “It’s… a thing,” I muttered, cheeks heating. Connor waved, grinning. “Come on, I’ll give you a ride.”

His laughter finally knocks me out of my babbling trance. “I’m glad you like it here, Jamie. I wasn’t sure what to expect after speaking with your father, but you’re not the little lawbreaker I was expecting.” When I’m still too shocked to say anything, he smiles, showing me that sexy dimple again and holds his hand out. “I’m Hank.”

I can tell mom is pissed, but I can hear Frank, who is just as pissed. “Is everything ok?” I ask. “Oh, hi, honey. Yes, everything is fine. Frank and I were just having a discussion about what had been going on. He has been watching the guys, and they seem to be talking a lot with three men that we don’t know.” Mom answers. “I can tell you who those men are. They are Sean, Doug, and Zach. Doug is Kylynn’s father, while Sean is Tianya’s father. Zach is Gabe’s dad, and he is their cousin.” I explain.

The man in suit said, laughing loudly as he shakes hands with Connor. Connor frowns and locked gaze with Xander inside the packhouse. *Play along!* Xander commands him through mind-link. *Xander, it's a capital crime pretending to be the alpha prince!* Connor argues. *I permit you!* *I'd rather not!* Connor declined. Xander sighed. *Fine! Do as you please!* "Alpha prince?" The man called still holding Connor's hand in a handshake. Connor blinked and return his attention back to the man. "I'm alpha Derek" he touched another man standing by his left hand side. "This is my beta, Matt!"

Mark smiled, the image of her naked in the shower immediately popping into his head, but he wasn't really sure he wanted to talk about her to some random guy who takes whisky in his coffee at eleven in the morning. "So what's the hampden then?" Connor asked as he made his way around the bar to join Mark. "The what?" "The hampden? Hampden roar? Score?" "Sorry," Mark said. "What?" Connor limped over and sat down on the bar stool next to Mark. "What's the score then? Where's the profiles?" "Oh. Here." He opened the binder up and put it between them on the desk. Connor looked at the first one, then ripped it straight out and put it face down on the bar to one side. "Wank."

Connor was taken away, his body a mangled mess of blood and flesh. … Three days later. Xavier attended a Hampton family event, though now under the name Neo Hampton. His hair was styled differently. He wore thin gold-rimmed glasses, a black mask covering most of his face. Only his distant, unreadable eyes were visible, giving nothing away. Back in his office, he had barely settled into his chair when his phone rang.

All of this is a whole different kind of strange to me, but I am so focused on trying to get Gabe to come back to reality that I don't really think much about it. "Sir, shouldn't we be taking him to a hospital?" I ask the man who is currently testing the limits of exactly what my car can do. I am still forcing my concoction down Gabe's throat and the man looks at me in the rear view mirror. "Trust me sweet heart. Where we are taking him is the best place for him." his worried eyes seem to be pleading with me to not ask any more questions. "I'm Hannah, by the way." I tell him.
