I heard sniffles; some of them might have been crying. Connor showed no hint of remorse. I doubted he had a single fiber of it in his body. He blinked as a trail of blood made a thin streak down his temple. "None of you want to see this traitor's true identity? You don't want to know if he is the enemy I have been chasing for the past decade?" Connor took two storming strides toward Raisa, who merely lifted her chin in faint disgust when he stopped with two inches between their faces. "You don't want to watch me break him? If you do, I would consider your proposal."

Connor said begrudgingly while my thighs squeezed together. "Fine," Reed responded with an eye roll. Cupping my face in his hands, he kissed me so passionately that my knees threatened to buckle. As soon as the kids begins, it ends leaving me wanting more. "I want to be inside you as soon as this warden of my brother allows." His promise left me buzzing as he returned to his previous lying position on the bed, fingering the sheets. Connor settled at the edge of the bed sporting a serious expression but his gleaming eyes said another. I wanted to sit on his face right then and there.

I felt the hair on my neck stand up. Xiner laid it all out—the blood-promise, the framing, and the poison Holden Leangley was brewing at H World. "Ava will not be donating a kidney to you," Connor said, his voice like grinding stones as he adjusted his coat. "I am her mate. Seeing her prick her finger for a blood test makes my chest ache for a day. I will not watch her lose a part of herself." Xiner nodded calmly. "I never expected her to. I never asked."

Noah asked. "Yes Dad. We mean Xander. We Dont need anyone else and Lexi won’t approve either. Now excuse me please. Continue with your romance talks". Sky winked before leaving the bedroom, leaving a thoughtful Conrad and Noah behind. "Conrad... Something is not right". Noah said in his deep voice. "I cannot catch it exactly. But there is something going on".

Claire’s POV “Get your fucking hands off her,” Connor’s voice vibrates through the room. He walks in with his face set like stone. No smile. No hesitation. It is not a request and everyone in the room feels it, even the elders go quiet. Tyler keeps his hand on my throat for half a second longer, then drops it fast. He opens his mouth to protest but one hard look from Connor shuts him up completely. My wolf stirs again under my skin, stronger this time, drawn to whatever power just walked through the door.

The little fuck released her hand and glowered at me when I stepped closer. "Who is this person Danielle?" She looked at me as she stood and came over to my side. "This is Connor Robert." "Him? That's who you think you're going to marry? Your father will never allow you to marry this...this person." Twenty-five to life that's all I thought when I looked at him, so I tamped down on the anger and ignored his dumb ass. As long as he wasn't touching her anymore, the fucker could live. "I'll watch where I put my hands next time, boy. I'm not too jazzed about motherfuckers touching what's mine. This is your one and only warning."

“You’re going to make everyone cry.” “Maybe,” I said, feeling a warm flutter in my chest. Then I heard his voice. Across the parking lot, Connor leaned against his car, backpack slung over one shoulder, smiling like the world belonged to him — or maybe like I belonged to him . “Hey, Sparrow!” he called. Like I was watching my own life through fog. "I used to read more," I said lamely. "I should probably get back into that." Connor smiled, but it didn't quite reach his eyes anymore. He knew. Could tell I wasn't really here, wasn't really present. God, this was unfair to him. He was a nice guy who deserved someone who was actually interested. Not someone who couldn't stop thinking about a man who'd lied to her about everything. I looked at Connor, really looked at him, and tried to imagine kissing him. Imagine his hands on me, his voice saying my name, his scent surrounding me.
