“Oh?”
Carl looked at me with that smile of his. “Well, not to worry,” he said. “I’ll lend you all my notes.”
I blinked. “You will?”
“Of course,” he said, already unzipping his bag. “Who’s going to help you catch up if not me?”
I smiled faintly. “Thanks, Carl.”
We both sat down, and he began bringing out the notebooks, one after another. History, Math, Literature. His handwriting was neat and detailed, and as I flipped through the pages, I couldn’t help but feel a little grateful.
