I hated the fact that a dark, buried part of my mind was nodding along to his logic.
"What do you suggest I do?" I heard myself ask, the question slipping out before I could stop it.
"When they strike, counter-attack immediately. Take something they cannot afford to lose. Their primary port access. Their accounts. Their lives. Make the cost of challenging Donna Moretti too expensive to bear. If you do not, every wolf in this city will take a piece of you until there is nothing left."
He was stripping away my options, painting a reality where peace was a death sentence. I leaned back, a heavy sickness settling in my stomach. "That is a miserable way to live."
