We both jolt back as a thin ribbon of black mist slips through the crack, weaving between our feet like a serpent. “What is that?” Elyra breathes. The mist coils upward. Shapes form inside it, faint, flickering figures. A man bleeding from the throat. A woman clawing at invisible walls. A wolf howling in agony. They are echoes, memories of past players.

“It’s down there.” Grayson frowned. “And how exactly do you plan to get down?” Before she could answer, the ground beneath them trembled not a quake, but a pulse. The mist below surged upward like a living thing, reaching toward them. Lira yelped, stumbling back. “It’s moving” The mist hit the edge of the canyon and froze, solidifying into jagged spires of glassy crystal. And beneath the surface, shapes began to move, shadows trapped inside, twisting and pressing against the glass.

My elbow crazed the wet stones and a sharp pain shot up my arm. “Ugh," I groaned as I crawled back up the bank, the bruise on my elbow slowly healing. My bloodied cloak, caught by my foot slowly drifted from my grasp, carried by the current. I looked up just as the surface of the water began to stir violently. A soft mist rose from it, coiling upwards like smoke. Faces shifted from within the fog as it began to take shapes. “What in the hell–” Before I could finish talking, three beings burst forth from the mist, snarling and growling as they hovered around me. They all carried my features, although grotesquely distorted, and bared long fangs at me.

I saw very unusual things and creatures. I saw a group of men with the bodies of stallions. I caught glimpses a group of humanoid creatures with dark skin and pointed ears and tusks protruding from their mouth. It was like this place was a ground for creatures that belonged in myths and legends. The big red creature stood in the middle of the city where everything seemed to be on fire and proudly spread his thick branchlike arms. “This is Tartarus!” he exclaimed proudly. “Also known The Other side.” “The Rift,” I muttered as I recalled what the cursed witch said.

A bright full moon emerged on a silent night. There was no star in the sky, but the luminous glow of the mystic moon gave it an enchanting beauty. In the depths of a thick forest in a suburb, the air was so quiet that it even felt weird. The wind blew heavily, and someone was screaming horribly. An ugly and ferocious man pressed Kendra Miller on the ground and tried to tear her clothes apart rudely. He scratched Kendra’s body urgently and laughed dissolutely.

Anna lay on the ground in a dying state as a ghostly black mist-like creature stole her life. The misty creature had the appearance of a being with a face with a skeleton face and hands wrapped in an all-black robe, which floated a few inches from the ground. Joined together, they transformed to a beautiful light skinned damsel fully naked in all her glory. She saw the moon through a tiny hole just above her wavy hair. She smiled as she seemed to sniff the stinking air.

He closed his eyes immediately and opened them again a few seconds later, seeing something entirely different… Everyone was still working on the rescue mission in a frenzy, but there was a thin layer of mist above the moving picture. Two globules of white and blue weaved together messily in the mist, like two tangled ropes. There was also a strong black sense of bad luck charging out and pouncing like a berserk, menacing black python… Javier was the only one who was able to see this, as ordinary people could not even see a hint of it, all because of The Grimoire of Five.
