Of course I didn't have time to inspect everyone else so I could only take a book and place it in front of my face pretending to study. A person lightly coughed just a distance from my desk. I turned to look at the funny faced guy with dirty blonde hair. He was skinny, maybe a bit skinny since his shirt was seemingly hanging from his shoulder blades, he seemed like the kind of guy who put less effort in studies but their grades were astonishing. "The book is upside down" he pointed at my book with a playful smile. I quickly put the book in the right position.

I knelt across my bed-side table, and opened its drawer, a bundle of papers sewn together laid still. I snatched the drawing book, and started flipping its pages. There was no doubt that they looked alike. But as I stared at the image I last drew, I noticed how they were two different individuals. Their grins. The boy on a robe had a crooked smile.

And he had a long nose that looked like a cursive L – L. “Sal Maan Roos Dee. He is a big writer. One of the biggest of all times. This man, see,” revealed my brother, showing the back cover of the book he had in his hands. The passport size photograph of the man on the back cover was exactly like the man I saw in my visions. A welcome change from the damp, expected mustiness. His smile was one of the things that first captured my heart. It wasn't about technical perfection, though the way his dimples winked and his teeth flashed white certainly didn't detract. It was the way it transformed his entire face, crinkling the corners of his eyes with genuine warmth. It held a silent promise of laughter and shared secrets, a spark of joy that was utterly contagious. Somehow, that crinkled-eyed grin managed to disarm even the most guarded defenses, leaving me feeling instantly at ease.

I said, narrowing my eyes at her. She tsked and laughed, “You are your lists, stickler.” Adrian starts laughing, “I think that is a better name for you, brother.” Sinclair doesn’t miss a beat, “You would be Mr. Moody, Adrian. You’re always in a bad mood these days. Did it hurt your jaw to laugh just now?” I laughed as Adrian scowled at Sinclair. “I know you are the nerdy, cute type, but don’t start a battle of wits with me, little wolf.”

He said in an upbeat voice. “What are you doing here? Are we gonna play inside their brain?” Sleepy that usually was sleepy suddenly became so energetic. “I love your storybook.” “Oh well thank you.” He said humbly. “I want to join the fun as well!” Smiley raised his hand. “I mean… some of us can make the time.” Smart looked excited as well. “Sounds like a lot of fun. Count me in.” Sly swept his hair to the back. “Except you can’t.”

His finger pulled me by the chin to meet his gaze. “You have nothing to be sorry for.” I stared into his forest greens, calming instantly as they traced over my features. His lips turned into a smile as he shook his head, as if he could read what I was thinking. “I’m not going anywhere.” His fingers stroked my cheek and I relished in the calmness it brought to me. Placing my head back on his chest, I felt Giovanni shift beneath me before holding out his book. He pulled the pages open and began reading ‘Dante’s Inferno’.

My face, as straight as my spine. Uncle Niall placed the book back; his fingers ran across several books before clinging onto a red one—one that stood amidst the black books like it was lost—pulling it out. His eyes fixed on the dull white pages of the book. “Unfamiliar or threatening?” The flutters of the paper punctuated the lingering tension in the office. “What’s unfamiliar about my face?” He flashed a hideous, malicious, and demonic smile.

And Roth had never looked for a girlfriend in his life, maybe that’s why no one in his social circle had both of those qualities at once. She stepped into the car as the chauffeur opened the door for her after taking the bag of books from her. She smiled at Roth teasingly, “I saw you staring at me.” Eleanor was really bad at flirting, but she still made Roth sheepishly smile. Had she always been this hot or was it the lipstick?
