I felt very tired, as if my whole body was not used by me. My throat was dry, my hands were really in pains, and a strange heaviness was attached to my legs. But the most overwhelming sensation was clarity. Everything was so clear to me. Because the moment I opened my eyes, I remembered everything. All of it. Not just the crash. Not just Felicia’s games or Levi’s silence. I remembered before that. Before this life. Before Nova. I remembered Jasmine. I did not even know how it happened or why the memories came, but they did. It was flowing like water that was rushing through a crack in a glass, they surged and overwhelmed me.

“You did it?” “Yes, I did.” She grinned revealing her set of pebble white teeth and Paige felt some sort of comfort in her, she was relieved. “I guess I just have to do more brain work, the problem is my fuzzy memories.” She understood what Crystal was trying to say, Paige knew that her trying to remember a lot of things might cause some mental problems for her. “I can’t hide from my problems forever; I need to learn how to embrace them.” She answered it as though she knew Paige was trying to ask if it was okay for her to do it. “I think it isn’t much of a hassle.”

Lily's POV Darkness enveloped me in thick water, pressing my awareness from every angle. I knew myself to be in this state of hanging between life and death, this liminal place where time was different and memories were as real as physical sensation . But something was wrong. The memories that had suddenly been coming back in perfect clarity as part of my spiral were once again being lost, slipping through my mind like water through my fingers. The faces I was just beginning to recognize, the voices I was about to pin a name to — it all was melting back into the whole blurred mess that is trauma and suppressed memories.

Chloe screamed hysterically, but Marcus ignored her protests. He raised a third memory crystal, saying coolly, "Let's see even more of the truth."

The kitchen was empty except for rotting food and broken dishes. But in the corner of the living room, behind a loose floorboard, something caught his eye. Finally, with a soft clinking sound, he discovered a memory crystal partially buried under debris. Marcus held it up to the light, squinting at the cloudy surface. "This could be significant. Memory crystals store visual recordings in our pack culture." He picked up the dust-covered crystal, handling it carefully like the precious evidence it might be. "If this contains what I think it does..." Marcus wiped it clean with his sleeve and activated the recording mechanism. The crystal glowed softly, then projected images into the air.

Crystal gave me a meaningful smile before she tiptoed and kissed me on my forehead. “I can't say anything right now because I want you to think back and try to recall your memories, see if you had something you forget because of the mixed emotions you felt after you were betrayed. Don't worry, I have no malicious intent toward you. My conscience is clear and pure.” Hearing her words, my brows furrowed, looking confused, and couldn't understand what she said. What does she mean about recalling memories? How much does she know and how did she know?

“ And don’t ever take it off while you’re in the forest.” I took the necklace carefully, turning it over in my hands. “ What is it for?” “ It will protect your mind,” she said, her tone quieter now. “ When you get close to the Heart Crystal, the green smoke seeps through the air. It’s not like normal mist. It plays tricks on you—turns your memories around. Some lose themselves in it and never come back.” I blinked, staring at her. “ It… changes your memories?” Katana nodded. “ Yes. It steals what’s real and replaces it with what it wants you to believe.”

Don't be stupid—" But before he could finish his little speech, Michael's voice boomed from the stage. He said slowly, his gaze sweeping over the crowd, "Actually, I already knew Aurora was at that party." The whole room froze. Audrey, my parents, and even I were stunned. Wait. Did that mean he remembered me that night? Even under the influence of the drug? My chest tightened as a bad feeling prickled at me. Audrey, though, thought Michael was finally speaking in her defense. Her chin lifted high again, her voice smug and loud.

He argued with me. “Look, as soulmates, she’ll feel the pull, too. Once she learns what we are, she’ll understand. Nothing will go wrong, she just needs to spend time with us. With her losing her memories, we are now on even footing with Zach.” I told him. “Dude, that’s a fucked up way to think with her not being able to remember anything.” He said. “That may be true, but it’s the reality of the situation.” I explained.
