Culpa Mia 2 Book Novels & Stories

Something about him made my stomach flip. Mia nudged me. “See? I told you. Total eye candy. If anyone can fix your broken confidence, it’s him.” I swallowed hard. “I don’t know…” “Alessia,” Mia said, grabbing my hand, “what have you got to lose?” I looked at the screen again, heart pounding. My finger hovered over the Book Appointment button. Mia squeezed my hand. “Do it.” I closed my eyes, took a shaky breath, and tapped.

Her face was covered with charcoal and her apron was a mess. “I am sorry.” She pressed down her lips and blinked her cute blue eyes, the anger I felt inside suddenly reduced. Who in this world can stay angry at this girl? “What the heck do you think you are doing?” I raised my voice but deep down I wasn’t mad at her, I just wanted her to think I am mad at her. She stepped away from the table and pointed at the menu book that was on the table. “I wanted to make that for breakfast.” She said softly. “But, I ended up burning the whole meal.” She closed her eyes and sobbed.

She knew her daughter was having a hard time, but this was beyond anything that she would have ever expected. Mia let her bag drop to the floor. “Did he explain why I’d done it?” Carla straightened her shoulders. “Mia Fernwood. Whatever the reason, violence is NEVER the answer. I thought I’d taught you better than that!?” “He read out my diary Mom! MY DIARY! I was a laughing stock in front of the whole school!!” Mia hadn’t intended to shout, but she was too worked up not to. “And that was wrong, but it still doesn’t give you the right to attack him!” Carla retorted.

I rush towards the kitchen to find Nonna Lola and when I burst into the room, she looks at me with that same sad look in her eyes. “You knew,” I whisper, shaking my head as a cold wave of betrayal washes over me. “All this time you knew!” Nonna Lola’s tears stream down her face as she slowly nods. “They made you teach me to cook…so I can be a perfect wife to a terrible man!” “Lucia-” “No!” I exclaim, crumbling to the floor and shaking my head. “No, everyone has lied to me! It's no wonder they all look at me like that; I have the blood of murderers and rapists running through my veins!”

Mia finally blurted out what she was hiding, “As long as you and Margaret exist, the press always compares the three of us, and the hateful press always describes me as a girl who grew up in a slum. I hate that!” “You want to be Mickle's only daughter?” I looked at her. “Now that you've got one down, what are you gonna do with the other one?” “Give me the evidence you're looking for,” Mia said. “Then we'll be fine.” “I'll tell Mickle everything you did to Margaret,” I said. “What he does to you is none of my business.” “I was going to wait until you had the baby to finish you off,” Mia said with a fierce look in her eyes. “But you made me do it now.”

It was just me, the man who ruined her friend, and her, the shield. “Mia,” I began, my voice rough from disuse and the endless grinding of guilt. “I know why you are here. I know why Elara disappeared. I know the truth about Victoria and Lucas. I cleared Elara’s name. Victoria is ruined. Lucas is gone.” Mia crossed her arms over her chest, leaning back in her chair. She didn’t show an inch of relief or surprise. Her expression was pure, concentrated contempt. “And you think that changes anything?” she asked, her voice low and dangerously steady. “You think because you finally did the bare minimum to cover your own shame, after the fact, that I owe you a reward? Or Elara owes you a location?”

Carmilla and Mia sank into the plush cushions of the vintage couch. The air inside the house was calm, almost too calm, as if holding its breath around their conversation. "Thanks, Mia. You know it better than anyone," Carmilla said with a faint laugh, trying to mask the weariness in her voice. Mia smiled, but it didn’t last long. Her face quickly turned somber as she leaned forward, elbows resting on her knees. “Cam... I’m really sorry I didn’t make it to Julian’s burial,” she said quietly, her voice thick with guilt. “I feel awful. Life’s been a mess, and I— I just couldn’t make it work. But that’s no excuse.”

Mia's POV I dropped down behind Lila so fast I nearly knocked her off her seat. "What is wrong with you?" she whispered, grabbing my arm. I pressed my hand over my mouth and said nothing because there were no words in the English language for what was currently happening to me. I told Lila everything on the walk home and she was so quiet for so long afterward that it scared me a little. "Say something," I said. "I am processing," she said, and then, "Mia. Your professor."

Chicago said and a maid walked to her, as she tried pouring the drink, it spilled on Elias by mistake "Oh my!! I'm so sorry!!" The maid immediately fell on her knee "Are you blind?! How could you spill it all over him you slave!" Chicago yelled and tried touching Elias, he shot her a glare and stood up "I'm fine," He said to the maid and walked out of the hall "Gosh is he human?" Echo shook her head She wanted to say more but Athena shoved her food inside her mouth "Eat enough so you can add more flesh," Athena said and winked at her

Alicia's head snaps towards her, glaring daggers. " How dare you! Who do you think you are to say that about me?" She snaps angrily. Valeria's words seem to have stirred something in her. " Is it wrong though? You don't understand humanity and being kind to others because you don't have a heart." Valeria continues, clearly enjoying getting Alicia all riled up. " Shut up! I don't need your lectures, bitch!" She screams before she points her finger towards me. " This is what's going to happen, Mia. You will give me the book and I will set your mate free. How about that?" She proposes with a wide grin on her face.
