The bathroom was ridiculously huge. It was a plainly painted white room, with tiny patches of gold at strategic locations. Steam curled lazily in the air. Lavender scented candles flickered at the four corners of the room. And sitting right in the center was a large tub already filled with warm, foamy water, bubbles stacked high like clouds. Of course the system would do something like this. I bet it is some kind of a trap, aimed at making players miss their deadline. I sank into the bath with a sigh so deep it felt like my soul was leaving my body.

As I suspected, the water is icy. "This bath will not only cleanse you physically but also spiritually," Driviar says, motioning for us to keep walking as the water rises higher and higher. "This water is blessed by the spirits that reside within this sacred cave, and this bath will bring you good fortune and blessings. All negative energy and emotions will be washed away, and you will be cleansed of all earthly ties and free to rise reborn as Lycans," he says as the water reaches our noses before we fully submerge ourselves under the water.

The soft, flickering glow of candles lined the walls, casting dancing shadows that seemed to whisper tales of forgotten legends. The centerpiece of the bathhouse was a series of interconnected pools, each one larger than the last. The pools were made of glistening blue tiles that shimmered like frozen sapphires under the soft candlelight. Intricately designed mosaics depicted scenes of nature, mythological creatures, and historical events, adding a touch of artistry to the serene ambiance.

Meanwhile, I continued screaming from the pain shooting through my entire body. “I’m going to perform a cleansing… Fill the tub with hot water, light the incense and candles—now! “Me inside you. It keeps the curse at bay.” The sound of his footsteps retreating echoed louder than anything else, the door slamming behind him. Only when the silence settled did I push myself upright, my knees shaking under me. Everything hurt. Deep inside me. I reached between my legs and my fingers came back with the wetness of my blood and him. A sound slipped out of me—a sob I hadn’t meant to make. I shoved my hand against my mouth. But it was already too late. “…And I just took a fucking bath.”

A freak accident that left me completely alone in the world. But now, I couldn’t help but wonder. Were they werewolves too? Had they known this would happen to me? Alaric said the curse didn’t activate unless you killed someone. If they were werewolves, had they never triggered the curse? Or was it something else entirely? I glanced at the window, where the light of the setting sun was fading, giving way to the night. The full moon was coming. I could feel it—a strange hum at the back of my mind, growing stronger with each passing moment.
