It’s becoming harder to move… I flinch every time it makes contact with someone. “Forgive me, Goddess… Ouch, that must have hurt. Yikes. Oops! Ouch! Sorry!” They shout and the loud crunch or thud when I connect tells me I still have enough in me to cause some damage. I stumble as the lamp post hits the ground and I almost trip over it. I’m too weak to run, but at least most of them are down. But I can see one or two are moving. Hide.

My ankle twisted with a sickening pop, and I went down. I hit the ground hard, falling to one knee. I let out a guttural grunt, the impact jarring my entire frame, sending a shockwave of agony through my spine. But even as I went down, my instincts took over. I didn't put my hands out to break my fall. Instead, I pulled Sylvia tighter to my chest, twisting my body so that I took the brunt of the impact against the mud and stone. I wouldn't let her hit the ground. I couldn't.

My voice cracked a little, but I prayed he didn’t notice. He leaned closer and whispered, “Are you strong enough now? Just a quick one before work.” My stomach knotted into something like disgust. “Daniel…” I pulled the blanket up, trying to hide my shaking hands. “You’ll be late.” He chuckled. “Five minutes won’t make me late.” “I can’t.” I looked down at my hands. “My waist still hurts from the fall. It’s bad today.” He frowned and sat up. “You’ve been saying that every day. Your waist always hurts you even when you don't fall.”

My knees give out and I sink down to the floor as the tears fall. I am such an idiot.

I stagger before my legs give way, all of my mass crashing to the ground. I wheeze in discomfort. My stomach muscles clench, absorbing the shock from the hit. It doesn't hurt too much, but it throbs enough for me to lay still on my back as an alternative to hurrying up. New note to self: do not lose focus like an immature child.

I screamed in pain as I knelt down, holding my head in my hands. What's happening?

It is nothing. After several times of trying, I was finally about to reach the top of the wall. Unfortunately, I slipped which made me fall to the cold ground for the nth time this night. I didn't think it would be this difficult. I let out a small groan when my elbow hit the ground. It is painful. I look at it and see a small wound. I pouted and slammed my body on the ground. I feel hopeless. “I believe I won’t make it,” I writhed in agony as I lay on the soil.
