There wasn't a method of dying in this world that I haven't tried, but none of them worked. My immortality is a curse I cannot break. Since I couldn't die, I decided to at least make my kingdom, the kingdom of Tarsus, function. I had thousands of doctors and hospitals under my payroll. They supplied my people with blood every month so we didn't have to hunt like animals. But even a king gets tired. Every hundred years, I go into a deep sleep. It was the only way I could save myself from the crushing weight of my memories and the insanity that follows them.

The king’s POV “I wrote the rules,” I reminded him. “I know exactly what it costs.” Joe stared at me like he was looking at a stranger. “You gave up your immortality,” he said quietly. “Your life is now tied to hers. If she dies—” “I die,” I finished. “I know.” “Are you insane?” he demanded. “If the council finds out, you could lose everything. your throne, your kingdom your life.” “I don’t care,” I said without hesitation.

But that doesn't mean she's living the part, in her stories, the littles are more dependent and they are more on the softer side but not my little girl, not her of course. I was bored, it's not just the humans that get bored, we immortals get bored as well, we have all eternity to live through and being alone is very boring, being lonely is the worse feeling ever for humans and immortals. Being a king doesn't have its magic or pleasure without a queen, it's not the sex I'm craving, if I want sex, there are a lot of willing bodies who would lay with me willingly, but it's boring, it's lacking the emotions and the life in it.

Life of an immortal is both easy and hard. Easy because you have unlimited resources, you were born in a wealthy family; well almost every immortal is rich. Hard because you rarely see another immortal, you follow certain sets of rules which I have disobeyed since I met someone. You can’t even marry the one you love most – especially if it is a mortal. You cannot mingle with their lives. If they were born a mortal, let them live and die as a mortal. Infusing a pure immortal’s blood, loving an immortal and creating offspring with it are a few that prohibits us to do. Doing those makes a new set of life – the hybrids.

Still, almost nothing is the same as before. I’m a zombie, the living dead, the supreme specious of the planet, and the leader of one of the largest hordes in North America.
