Broken
"I'm just glad to see you're well rested after this last week."
I point to my mouth and Jessie chokes quietly, "We tried to remove it before I went to sleep. You almost went into respiratory arrest. Your seatbelt cracked one of your ribs and it knicked your lung. It still needs healing before we take it out."
I nod lightly. "When can I see the girls," I sign as tears fill my eyes.
"Are the girls here," Jessie asks in a choked whisper.
"No, but I can have Sarah bring them," my mother says softly and I nod.
