The light from the monitors painted everything pale blue, coffee had gone cold beside my elbow hours ago. Damian stood near the window. He had not slept. His shirt sleeves were rolled to his elbows. Fresh bruising showed across his knuckles, the swelling had already begun. He stared out through the reinforced glass like the city outside might answer something for him. He looked calm again. But it was the kind of calm you saw after an explosion when the smoke cleared and the damage finally became visible. I forced my eyes back to the screen. Five names. The list was simple on the surface.

“Will he wake up.” Victor remained silent for several seconds. Then finally answered. “Yes.” A pause followed. “But not as what he was.” Evelyn did not care about that. Not now. “Then he wakes up.” The technician adjusted the monitor beside Damian. “His vitals are stabilizing slightly.” Evelyn leaned closer immediately. “Damian.” Nothing answered her. Time stretched. Too long. Too quiet. Then something moved. Small. Almost invisible. His fingers shifted slightly against hers.

“I will attempt to connect with it in the office but the cell phones seem to have a longer reach.” I give her a quiet thanks as Damian starts sitting up allowing the sheet and the robe to slide off his body. He sways unsteadily as brief whines escape his throat. He’s struggling to stay upright but still manages long enough for me to place the monitoring stickers while he takes the medication. Hooking up the leads goes just as fast and he’s laying back down before Angela leaves. “How long will he be like this?” Lilly asks as Damian continues to struggle with the pain.

Mister Yair checked Damian with medical equipment and soon came to a conclusion. "Mister Yair, how is Damian?" Patrick blurted out asking. "If I'm not mistaken, Damian has been attacked and suffered damages to his nerves in the past, which worsen over time, rendering him immobile," Mister Yair said confidently. "Yes, that's right. The Libertons were the Scammells' competitors in business and Damian had been involved in a conflict with the Libertons two years ago, which ended with him being injured by a few Libertons. He was still breathing. Barely. But blood was soaking through his shirt. Too much. Too fast. “I’m going to die, aren’t I?” he asked weakly, his eyes meeting mine as I dropped to my knees beside him. “Don’t say that,” I replied flatly, already ripping his shirt open to see the damage.

Damian As we’re sitting here in church everyone is silent. Not a single person wants to get on Skulls bad side and I don’t fucking blame them. He’s ruthless and doesn’t give a shit if we’re 1% or not. Drago notified, “I will give you an estimate, you open that door, you will meet hell, what are you going to do when you are injured?” El Diablo smiled, he didn’t flinch when he was told about his wound neither did he look shocked when he was told of his doom, because one thing was for certain, this was not the end for him. “This,” he said followed by a gunshot. Drago flinched, momentarily showing his pain on his face before concealing it again as the black haired man before him walked up to him. “Now we are both bleeding,” El Diablo said before placing his gun on Drago’s temple as he stood behind him, “and you will open the door.”

Juliette said, thinking about the way Lucas held Betty’s hands earlier at the café. "That shit with that Barbie is everything but love," Damian rolled his eyes.
