Damien added, turning toward the stairs.
“Should I start heading there now, boss?” Thorne asked carefully.
Damien paused, his frown cutting sharper than any shout.
“Was that supposed to be a question?”
Thorne stiffened. “No, boss.” Without another word, he walked out, leaving the others with the boss.
Then Damien’s gaze landed on Graves, and for a fleeting second his chest tightened. The memory of Lila’s eyes lighting up when she’d spoken Graves’s name earlier that night struck him harder than he cared to admit.
