A knock comes at the door. “Come in.” Damian steps inside, cleaned up, bandaged hand flexing at his side. “He’s gone. I made sure.” I nod. “Thank you.” He hesitates. “You hate me for not stopping you, don’t you?” I shake my head. “No. I hate that you had to.” He sits beside me, quiet for a moment. “He’ll keep coming.”
