Even though I stopped loving him, this man still riles me up easily, “You have no idea what that word means to me, and you have no idea how much I paid for that word! You do not have the right to use that word on me, not when Ava still takes up most of your heart! You don’t get to love anyone, not when you can’t promise your full heart in exchange! I--” I want to keep on bursting out, but I feel a pair of eyes on me, and I turn, only to see Damian Vanderbilt’s eagle eyes on me. He looked like he was on his way leaving, but now he takes a champagne from a waiter and sits down not far from us.

With both hands shoved into his coat pockets like this is some sorta casual reunion. He lets out this soft sigh that I find dead annoying. Like I’m some toddler throwing a tantrum over dropped sweets. I storm up to him, grab his collar with shaky fingers, and yank him hard. “I just told you, the name’s Dam—” he begins, smooth and smug. “You prick!” I spit, really fuming now. “It’s because of you... everything’s gone to shite!” My throat tightens, and my voice breaks like a snapped string. “If only, if only you never showed up... If only...”

“Don’t do this to me please….” “Shut up and stop moving,” he cackles sinisterly. “You’re just my little kitten to play with.” “No she’s not, she’s mine!” My heart thuds uncontrollably when I hear Damian’s voice behind me. How did he get here so fast? “Damian, run! They’re going to blow the place up!” I summon all the strength I can and yell at the top of my voice. “Then I’ll fucking roast to death holding you in my arms,” He replies and despite the dire situation, my heart flutters uncontrollably.

And now, I was paying the price for it. “I’m sorry,” I whispered, the words hollow and meaningless, even to my own ears. Damian’s eyes flashed with contempt as he stepped toward me, his voice dropping to a deadly whisper. “Sorry doesn’t fix this. Sorry doesn’t erase what you’ve done.” I bit my lip, choking back the sobs that threatened to break free. I didn’t know what to say, how to make this right—because deep down, I knew there was no making this right. Damian’s eyes raked over me, his expression hardening with every second that passed. “Get out,” he said finally, his voice cold and distant.

Damon “Damn it! My thoughts are a mess.” I muttered. I was in my study trying to clear my head by doing anything possible. But I was pissed that Annie would still attempt to form a bond with me after everything that had transpired between us. I couldn’t wrap my head around why she wouldn’t understand that I don’t give a damn about her anymore. She was just there for numbers and I expected her to know it. The next time she was going to attempt such a thing, I would definitely not take it easy on her, I frowned.

"It's me. I'm here." I looked at his face, at the cuts and bruises that marred his perfect features. A wave of anger washed over me. Who could have done this? Who could have wanted to hurt him so badly? I leaned down and kissed his forehead, my tears falling on his skin. "You have to fight, Damian," I whispered, my voice filled with desperation. "You have to come back to me. We have a deal, remember? You promised me forever. You can't break your promise."

“Shit!,” “I slept with Damien Black!,”

I say raising my voice at the end. “And boy am l glad.” He says his voice laced with disgust. “You know what? Fuck you, Jeremy Martin.” I say angrily. Jeremy always did this; I know him and my boyfriend got off on the wrong foot and they don’t like each other for God knows what reason but it didn’t give him the right to bash him like that. The rest of the drive home was silent, I was super mad at Jer that when we got home, I just got off the car and went to bed all the thoughts of dinner long forgotten.
