PRINCESS Damon was wearing a black custom-made three-piece suit that fit him absolutely perfectly. The jacket emphasized his broad shoulders, the vest showed off his lean torso, and the whole ensemble made him look like he'd stepped out of a fashion magazine. His hair was styled impeccably, his face was freshly shaved, and he looked so devastatingly handsome that I forgot how to breathe. I felt my heart pounding so hard I thought everyone around me must be able to hear it. This was the person I'd been desperate to see, to talk to, or just be near.

Earlier, he’d helped me get something to wear from Margo. Apparently, her daughter was exactly my size, so she had some clothes on hand. Damien looked perfect. Leaning against the wall, his gaze entirely on me, he looked like he’d stepped out of a magazine shoot, not a hair out of place, even though he’d dressed only in a simple shirt and sweatpants. He had a face close to what he called perfection, he had small eyes, one that could hardly be seen when he laughed really hard but it had been long since he had such laughter so that didn't happen regularly, he had a pointed nose that trailed down to small, pinkish lips, his hair was jet black but his hair never maintained one color for too long, he usually dyed it different colors when he felt like.

Everyone in the room waited in silence for my reaction and after some time, I smiled. "Perfect." I said softly, running a hand over it and Damien pointed toward his head. "I'm next." He told the nurse and my eyes widened as I looked back at him. Damien's hair was perfect. It was always neat and fluffy at the top of his head and his hairline was always perfectly lined up. I couldn't let him sacrifice that for me. "Damie-" "I want to." He cut me off by saying and as I looked back at him, a tear ran down my cheek and he smiled at me, allowing the nurse to come over to him and begin shaving his head.

Over his Jeep's hood, he waved to Dana, the self-proclaimed avant-garde hair stylist who ran the salon two doors down from the museum, who stood in the salon’s rear door, smoking. Exhaling a narrow plume of blue-gray smoke, Dana flicked the ash from her cigarette. “Morning, Jimmy. You’re looking sharp today.” She laughed, a hacking, hoarse sound, gesturing to his body-hugging biking attire. “When you gonna let me cut your hair?” Jim grimaced at thehorrifying thought, unconsciously running his hand over his neat, cesear crop. This week, Dana’s hair was colored hot pink, styled in a spiky, wild cloud about her head, but you never knew from one day to the next what you'd find with Dana.

Her face warmed at the thought he had already been on his way to see her. “Don't tell me you were just teasing me?” he said, humor in every word. "I look awful right now," she mumbled, her voice muffled by her hands. "They cut off so much of my hair. Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?" Damien’s fingers gently tipped her chin up, forcing her to meet his gaze. "You could never look ugly to me," he said softly, his eyes scanning her face with a look of tenderness that made her breath catch. He ran his hand over her uneven hair, a result of the doctors needing to shave part of it to treat her wound. I had no idea what to feel after knowing that Damien had been planning for this way ahead of time. My stylist had even changed my hair by removing the black dye and bleaching my hair to a beautiful blonde that reached just to my shoulders. I had loved my black and red hair, especially since it had been a reminder of Damien in my life when we had been apart. But now, I had no use of it since he was with me.
