"The last time you were here, you begged me to help you forget. You wanted out of your own head. People don’t start remembering without a trigger. Something opened the door. What was it? When did they start coming back?" I sat still for a moment, trying to trace it. And then it hit me. Russian roulette. With Killian. I thought I was going to die. He thought he was going to die. My mouth felt dry just thinking about it. He must have seen the answer on my face because he leaned back slightly, studying me like a puzzle. "From the look on your face, you remember the moment you opened Pandora’s box. But not everything... you're still scared." He didn’t say it like a question. Just a fact.

“He should pay.” My hands trembled as I lifted the gun, the cold weight of it foreign in my grip. Elias was shaking now, his lips parted like he wanted to scream but couldn’t find the air. “Just pull the trigger,” Damon said. “That’s it. Do it.” The metal sight aligned with Elias’s chest. My finger hovered over the trigger. My vision blurred with rage and tears. My body still ached from what Damon had already done. From what Elias almost did. From what *they all* did.

Ronan said, his voice cold, merciless. Dorian’s lips curled into a twisted grin. “You think this is over? You think you’ve won?” He laughed, the sound low and menacing. “You have no idea what you’ve started. You’ve made enemies of the wrong people.” Ronan’s expression never wavered. “You should have stayed hidden, Dorian. Now you’ll pay for underestimating me.” With a single, swift motion, Ronan pulled the trigger. The world seemed to stand still as Dorian’s body slumped to the ground, lifeless.

“I was told to. You were just a test. A trigger. They wanted to see what you’d become if they broke you.” The words slammed into me like ice water. “What are you talking about?” Lorenzo asked, stepping between us. “She’s not just some victim,” Donga said, wheezing with laughter again. “She was the fuse. They needed to know if the legacy would survive trauma. If she’d crack, or awaken.” “What legacy?” Logan demanded. Donga looked at him like he was a fool. “You don’t even know what she is, do you?” He snickered and even I looked at him confused.

Inside the vault Lena noticed it too. “Yes.” Sebastian asked, “What signal?” Lena zoomed the system again. All bombs were connected to a single broadcast. Marcus whispered slowly, “A master trigger.” Leo nodded. “If we stop the broadcast…” Daniel finished the sentence. “…the bombs lose sync.” Leo nodded. “And the EMP wave fails.” Inside the vault Marcus looked around the server racks. “Where’s the trigger?” Ethan answered calmly. “Not here.” Sebastian asked, “Then where?” Ethan smiled.

“I’m the only one willing to burn for you.” “No,” Elena replied. “You’re the only one willing to burn others.” She took a small step closer. “You taught me something once,” she said. “That fear makes people sloppy.” Marcus frowned. “What are you doing?” “Watching you,” Elena said gently. “Distract yourself.” His grip tightened on the remote. “Stop stalling.” At the same moment, Roman’s fingers hovered over the device. “Timer?” Jace asked hoarsely. Roman shook his head. “No timer. Deadman logic. If he panics, it triggers.”

Mama left me with another worried look, leaving me alone with my misery. Why did they trigger me? Why were they so familiar? Where did I see them? I grabbed the nearby water bottle and chugged down almost half of it, my throat becoming drier as a wave of vertigo hit me. The hollowness of my heart got even deeper as I took a peek out of the door. I could hear my blood pounding in my ears. Smile and breath, it will be over once they are g- The table was empty..... My feet moved before I could comprehend whatever that was going in me, moving to the dinning area that was almost empty.

Lyra didn’t answer immediately because again he wasn’t wrong. Ronan crouched near the chair, studying the markings carefully. “Interesting,” he murmured. Ronan straightened before turning serious again. “Once it activates, don’t engage emotionally,” he warned. “It will look for weakness first.” Then his gaze shifted toward Lyra and I believe it wants her attention. Kael stepped closer to the center of the room. “How do we trigger it? “Pain should work,” Ronan said. The silence after that felt heavier than before. The young wolf visibly stiffened.

Adrian zoomed into a section of the system. “This is not just data transfer.” Yvonne stepped closer. “What do you mean?” Adrian pointed at the code. “He’s planting something.” Marcus frowned. “A virus?” Adrian shook his head. “No.” Yvonne asked quietly. “Then what?” Adrian took a breath. “A trigger.” Marcus spoke slowly. “What kind of trigger?” Adrian answered. “One that activates later.” Yvonne felt cold again. “So even if we stop him now…” Adrian finished.

Thankfully, the boss monster wasn’t very smart. Akiko held her breath and ran from the stairwell to hide in the games room beneath the library. She waited for Tracer, who was still feeling the outline of the black eggs. At least his party safely delivered the black eggs to Zen. It was now a race against time to know how to trigger these eggs. Frustrated, Tracer smacked the egg with his full force and glared at it. “What is your trigger? Open sesame? Abracadabra?” The egg did not respond, and Tracer glowered.
