The last thing I want is for Samantha to walk in on me sneaking through her stuff; she already has trust issues as it is. My eyes catch on a notebook; it looks like a diary. It has the inscription, Dark stories by twisted minds, do not open. I pick the book up, my curiosity instantly piqued. I rise from my squatting position to sit on the edge of the bed. I flip through the pages to see how many there are, and it's well gone, over 500 pages. I should drop the book out of the room the same way I worked out, but I can't.

I asked frowning in confusion “don’t get me wrong. However, I need to understand what it is that I am with and who it is I’ll be dealing with” “The woman is far more dangerous than any woman you’ll ever deal with. After almost being killed by a few hundred men, she stopped allowing men around her, and whichever man dared approach her would be dead before he could say a word, innocent or not. She simply cared about money, and by time, she came to use the men who tried approaching her for it” Leonardo explained and I nodded. “I see, therefore, if you would have approached her; you would have been dead. Am I understanding this correctly?” I asked and he nodded.

"I feel pity for her because no matter how hard she tries to gain all this power, to live up to this ridiculous idea of being better than everyone, at the end of it she is just desperate and unfortunately that is exactly what makes her so unpredictably dangerous." He turned his face, his lips pressing gently against my hairline. "Until I met a woman who refused to let me intimidate her in a private gallery in Manhattan," Damien murmured, a faint, genuine smile touching his words. "A woman who looked at all my power, all my money, and all my corporate authority, and saw right through it to the man standing behind the wall." I sat up slightly, resting my hand against his jawline, forcing him to meet my eyes directly in the soft golden light of the hearth.

The man chided "How dare you threaten me? Have you lost sight of who I am? I will cut off your balls and send you back to the lowly prison; I saved you out." The woman yelled, making the man wet in fear. She is the most dangerous woman he has ever encountered. "My bad, ma'am, please forgive me." The man pleaded. "Alright, see to it that my order should be swiftly carried out." The woman terminated the call with a wicked grin. "Alice and Andrew, you're still unfamiliar with who I truly am, and you've roused my inner demon. I'm prepared to go to any lengths to attain my desires."

Now, every exposed brick wall and piece of expensive furniture just reminded me of exactly what it had cost. I rubbed my face and stared blindly out the window. Birchwood Drive. The aggressive divorce petition. Elena calmly walking into Sophia's parents' dining room and detonating the narrative. The humiliated look on Sophia's face afterward. Nothing was staying contained anymore. The firebreaks were failing, and every lie I had so carefully compartmentalized was bleeding rapidly into the next. A short knock interrupted my thoughts. Sophia stepped inside and closed the door. She didn't smile; she hadn't smiled much at all since the dinner party.

I wouldn’t be doing my due diligence if I didn’t share the possibility with Vivian, would I? “Good to know.” Vivian looked like she was holding back a laugh. “There’s no bigger turn-on for a woman than the story of another woman being chained to a rock as a sacrifice.” The echo of her sarcasm faded into silence as we took the stairs to the second floor. I pointed out the Parisian-style lounge, the billiards room, and the beauty room, but my attention was split between the tour and the woman beside me.
