“You didn’t tell me those were your things. I thought the owner agreed to at least keep your apartment.”
“He did agree, but I don’t care.” She rolls her eyes. “Anyway, I thought that if--”
“No, but what about your son?” Luke asks.
I frown. “Josie, I thought you had a daughter. I didn’t know you have a son too.”
“That can’t be right.” Luke lets out a short breath. “She has one child, and it’s a man. His name is Daniel. I met him before.”
The energy around the counter drops. It’s almost like Luke stabbed something and now it’s bleeding all over the counter. Even the temperature seems to have shed a couple of degrees. Josie tries to smile, but her lips are shaking.
