From my peripheral vision, I could see his lips curl into a smirk, and I felt uneasy. “Can we eat? I’m starving,” I said, and with that, everyone dug into their food. Different questions swam in my head, and I decided to ask them. I was going to try and be happy for my mother, at least, I needed to know what kind of person she was getting married to. “So, Daniel,” I started, and the room fell silent. “What do you do?” Daniel finished the food in his mouth before clearing his throat. “Well, asides loving your mother, I’m an investment banker.”

I directed the second question at Mrs Jackson. She simply smiled at me, suddenly enthusiastic. “The one and only. And you remember. I never did mention his name in that conversation, did I?” “No. No, you did not.” I replied drily. I turned to Daniel, taking him in. He spread his arms dramatically. “So, you're the one thirsty with knowledge.” Daniel chuckled. “Amongst other things.” This peaked my interest. “What things?” Daniel’s lips quirked. “Ah, yes, this brings us to the ever-mysterious 'business.' I’m in security consulting.”

My hands trembled where they rested against the desk, my chest rising and falling with a fury I hadn’t let myself feel in years. I walked toward the window, my stomach churning with anger as I fought back my own pain. My head fell back, and I arched my back, pressing into him wanting more. Dane lifted me into his arms and found a soft bed of grass, laying me down gently. The cool blades tickled my skin. As Danial was leaving the academy his phone started ringing. Danial stopped took out his phone and saw an unknown number. He thought for a moment and answered the call " Hello?" On the other side was a calm and elderly voice " Danial have you forgotten about me this early?" Danial recognized the voice, the voice of Barley white the chairman of Sterling Technology! Danial was stunned and quickly said " Sir Barley, I apologize that I didn't recognize your voice. What can I do for you, sir Barley."

She described further, and I pretended not to listen to her. “You like him, don’t you?” she teased. “Hell no!” In a loud tone I disagree. “So you do know who I’m talking about,” she smiles. “Come on, tell me. What’s his name?” “Daniel. I rolled my eyes at her and she chuckled, "no offence, Jenner Inc. is a great place but you know what I mean, don't you?" Daniel stood up. He was radiant tonight. He was wearing a bespoke Tom Ford tuxedo, his hair perfectly coiffed, his face flushed with the intoxication of success and vintage Krug. He looked like the golden boy of Wall Street. He looked like a king. "If I may," Daniel began, his voice booming with that charismatic resonance that made investors open their checkbooks. He carried himself like someone used to rooms shifting when he entered. “Mrs. Vale,” he said, nodding once. “I’m Daniel. PR consultant.” Of course you are.
