Danny's POV The cabin of the car felt like it was shrinking, the air thick with the smell of expensive leather and the terrifying ozone of Chadwick’s rage. I was still holding the burner phone I had snatched from him. "Give me the phone, Danny," he said, his voice a low, vibrating hum that I felt in my teeth. "No!" I shoved it against my chest, right under my silk shirt. "You aren't killing anyone tonight. You are insane and you have a warped sense of humor."

If I didn't show up, he’d just find out where I lived and show up at my place. I reached the suite, knocked twice, and didn't wait for an answer. I pushed the door open, my eyes immediately darting to the living area. Danny was there. Shirtless, of course. Because why would he make this easy? He was standing by the window, adjusting something on a laptop, his back to me. When he turned, the casual smirk I was bracing for didn't come. He just looked... tired. He saw me, let his gaze linger for a second, and then looked back at the screen.

Knowing Noah, he was sure he would be planning a revenge. After Danny's cell was unlocked, Danny still sat in there making no attempt to come out. "You are free to go," Liam said to him. Danny finally looked up and towards Liam. He then stood up, still holding Liam's gaze, he stretched his body and started to walk out of the dungeon room, his eyes remained fixed at Liam. Danny finally stepped out of the dungeon room and walked towards Liam. Liam watched him still not sure why he was coming towards him. His expression couldn't depict anything to him, totally expressionless.

Or that my initial suspicion about him as my phantom was indeed correct. “I’m going to meet Damon tonight,” I said, and if my phantom will not show up while I am with Damon, then it could lend credence to my theory. Nancy nodded and then stood up. “Alright. Good luck with that and please be safe. I just came here to check on you, and I’m glad I did.” “Thank you.” With that, she left my office, but not without blowing me a kiss and wink before she closes the door. ****

Not when Frank was finally letting me see the raw pieces of him. But the phone buzzed again. Frank didn’t look at me. My hands shook as I answered. “Hello?” Danny’s voice rushed through the speaker. “Mimi? Where are you? I came to your dorm, but you weren’t there. I need to talk to you. It’s important.” My stomach dropped. Frank’s knuckles whitened on the steering wheel. “I’m… out,” I said softly. “With him?” Danny asked, voice sharp. Frank’s head snapped toward me.

"Danny?" "Danny Finn. He's in prison now, Riverbend Correctional. Got twenty years for a bank robbery that went wrong. But before that, he and his sister Caroline worked for your father. Eliminations. Making problems disappear. Your father sent them into a trap, got Caroline killed, got Danny locked up. But Danny knows things. Names. Locations. He might talk if you approach him right, offer him something he needs."

“If you could, would you go back to The Hive?” “Yes, only to find one person. There has only been one person in this world who gave me a run for my money. It’s not as important to me anymore, but for a long time all I wanted to do is find the person.” Pausing he rubbed a hand against his jaw. “They call him Phantom.” A laugh left his mouth without any humor, “And people call me Ghost. The irony with the names is not lost on me.” I took a long sip of wine. Not sure how to respond. “It does seem quite clever.”

My phone vibrated on the nightstand. I picked it up and saw Rafael's name on the screen. Gently, I stepped toward the window before answering. “Yes.” “One of our watchers caught movement near Danny’s hideout ” My jaw tightened. “Did they make contact?” “They're about engaging."

"That's outside a doctor's pay grade. I handle the healing; I don't do intel." The look in Danny's eyes changed—the social politeness stripped away, replaced by genuine respect. "Chloe, I know I'm just a guy who runs errands, but if you're cool with it, I'd like to call you a friend." He straightened up, his tone crisp, like he was finalizing a contract. "If you ever find yourself in DC—whether you're in trouble or just need backup—Danny is just a phone call away." I was going back to DC.
