—DAPHNE: Bad decisions were dangerous things, they never arrived all at once. They slipped quietly beneath your skin, spreading slowly until they became impossible to separate from your blood. And standing this close to Alpha Bellamy, with his breath mingling with mine and his chest brushing against my body beneath the water, I knew with terrifying certainty that I was about to make one. “What now?” he asked softly. The roughness in his voice sent warmth curling through me so intensely I nearly purred. Instead, I smirked and forced myself to move away from him before my self-control completely shattered.

Standing right next to the tub was Daphne. She was bare and dripping wet. Her long blonde hair was stuck to her skin, dripping water onto her bare shoulders and wide hips. She held a black velvet cloak loosely around her waist, but the front was completely open, showing her chest, her ribs, and three dark red scratches where Victor’s nails had torn her skin. In her right hand, she held a long silver dagger. Thick blood dripped off the blade, falling into the puddle between her bare feet. She did not look scared. She did not scream or shake.

DAPHNE'S POV My stomach churned as I stepped out of the cab and faced the cinema, dread coiling tighter with every breath. Dad had called me to help out, but it made me uncomfortable because Zachary would be there. Daisy told me she had invited Hillary over, and he said he would bring Zachary along since they had been waiting for months to see the new release. I let out a deep breath and went in. I told myself I didn’t feel anything for him anymore… yet my body still tensed whenever he was near.

“Daisy killed herself, Jade. I tried to save her, I swear. Xavier lied to her, not us.” I clenched my fists, my heart pounding, wanting to rush in but knowing we had to wait for the police. Jade’s voice rose, sharp and accusing. “You’re a liar,” she said. “You made sure Daisy was gone, so you could be Oliver’s wife, kissing him, raising her twins, bonding with them, the heiress of Symphony Ballet Theatre. You’re so strategic, Daphne, a fake, a thief.” Daphne sobbed, her voice breaking. “I’m not,” she said. “I didn’t want this. Daisy was my twin, I loved her. Please, Jade, believe me.”

How absurd! Amelia knew she was supposed to be grateful for him saving her sorry ass, but she couldn't help but feel that way. It was the feeling she got any time she couldn't cope with nervousness. “How long have you guys been dating?” Daphne asked, dropping her fork as it made a clicking sound in contact with the plate. Amelia opened her mouth to speak but was abruptly interrupted by Xavier. “A year” he spoke and Daphne nodded “That's good. You know, I've always wanted to meet you badly. Xavier has said a lot about you” Daphne said with a grin on her face.

And in stepped in… Daphne! Her shoes banged against the floor like gunshots. Her eyes locked on mine, breaking up in a smile, I suddenly had a bad feeling about this.Daphne was dressed in skimpy shorts and a black singlet. Her hair was propped back in a ponytail, and she was on a set of Adidas sneakers. she stopped near the foot of the bed, hands on her hips like she was the queen of the freaking empire. She flashed Xavier a grin that was way too familiar. “Rise up and shine!!,”

“Listen, I love this little rebellion thing you’ve got going on here, but what happens if he actually tracks you down and finds you here?” “He’s not going to find me,” Daphne said boldly. “Yeah? Think again, hot mom.” Rosalind snorted. “Storm was completely head over heels for you long before you ever got pregnant. Don't tell me you forgot the time you vanished for six hours during the opening of the second farmer’s market? The man literally mobilized his warriors and searched three different packs just to find you.” Daphne stopped dead in her tracks, her jaw slack. “What?”

She shakes her head at me, tsking. “I wouldn’t blame her if she did.” She says as a throwaway statement before walking out. I stare at her retreating figure, her words lingering in my head, Daphne is in a relationship with Liam. Liam? I can’t trace whoever he is, I can’t even remember ever seeing him among the infinity pack and I think one thing, that Liam probably wasn’t a wolf, maybe he was with another pack outside infinity city or maybe not. Or maybe he was a vampire.

“Forgive me, my Queen. I never got the chance to introduce myself to you earlier on.” Daphnée nodded her head and walked around it to Dante and pushed him out of the way. She pulled open one drawer and took out the pink box of truffles. Closing the drawer, she walked back to the chairs and sat down. She handed Raffael one of them and said, “Go help your partner. I want to be alone with my husband.” After he left with a bitter expression on his face, Dante said, “I see you are playing your role well.”
