Darius scoffs "Incapable? No, you all just see me as a puppet you can control!" Adolf asked boldly but he was silently trembling because he wasn’t a stranger to Darius’s temper. This time, Darius halted, “the what?” he barked at Adolf. “The weird king,” Adolf repeated. “Why would you call him that?” Darius queried, the lines on his head had doubled up and from Adolf’s point of view, Darius looked five years older. “Because that is what he is known for. I remember him from the stories my father told me and he isn’t a good man, Alpha Darius,” Adolf chipped in. Darius took a step in his friend’s direction, opened his mouth as if he was about to say something, and then he closed it back. It seemed like he had wanted to say something to Adolf and he had changed his mind.

I said without looking up, voice low and even, “has decided to test me… now would be the time to confess.” Draven ignored me while Darius gave a faint, mocking huff. “You assume too much,” Darius said lazily. “Perhaps your grip is simply loosening.” The temperature in the room seemed to drop at his words as my gaze lifted slowly to meet him. “My grip,” I said carefully, “has not loosened.” Darius held my stare while Draven remained still as carved stone. “You have made a mess of things ever since you arrived. Did you stop to think that maybe you are not supposed to be on the throne and the moon goddess is punishing you?” Darius said smugly.

I was sure that I was loud and clear enough” He leaned in, a smile creeping through the corner of his mouth. “I don't like you” “I appreciate the honesty! You should have mentioned that when your father was still alive” “That is why I am saying this now that he is dead” I scoffed, clenching my fist. “I am sure that you saw the official statement that the orphanages put out about the amount of money that was donated to them. My company also released a statement to debunk those false accusations. I am Darius, a pious man and a great dad and the last thing that I will do is covet something that isn't mine”
