I saw him wearing the patient gown as well before he faced me again. I looked at him and saw how serious his face was. He was clenching his jaw before he lowered his head. "I am Alpha Darius of Watson Pack, Lycan Queen." He looked up and met my eyes. "I have come here to be on your aid."

The sight of it stirred something in all of them—hope. As they descended, pack warriors noticed them, and the word spread fast. By the time they reached the edge of the dock, Alexandro himself stepped down from the ship to meet them. His eyes locked onto Edward and Jacob—and then landed on their father. “Lord Alaric,” Alexandro said. “Alpha Alexandro,” the older man replied. There was no tension this time, only shared urgency. “I brought help,” Alaric said. “This is Ysolde.” Alexandro studied her, surprised. “The witch?”

The dining room was grand and luxurious, adorned with classic furnishings and crystal lights that cast a warm glow across the space. Jenny Anderson sat at the long dining table, striving to keep her focus on her three children—Jackery, Jackson, and Jerry—while feeling the weight of Alpha Dragon’s piercing gaze upon her. His eyes burned like someone who had seen too much war and lived to hate it. Every warrior stilled. The air shifted. “I am Darius,” he said, his voice low but carrying. “Exiled Alpha of Oakland.” The hall gasped. Oakland. The very place I once dreamed of running to. My knees almost buckled. Rowan rose from his chair, hand on his sword. “What filth is this? You walk into Whiteclaw hall like you own it?” Darius didn’t flinch. “I walked through your men. None stopped me. Your guard has holes, Rowan.”

Darius walked over to the center of the camp and stood there with an unreadable expression as Xander handed a dagger over to him “By blood and magic,” Xander began, “you swear your loyalty to our cause. To aid in our fight against Zerathos. If you betray this oath, your life will be the price. May the earth bear us witness.” Darius met Xander’s gaze, then mine. Then, without hesitation, he sliced his palm, letting his blood drip into the earth beneath his feet. “I swear.” His voice was steady and unwavering. “Upon my blood, my life, and my honor, I vow to stand against Zerathos. To fight for Lycara. And to never betray those who stand beside me.”

Before Kael could respond, another voice entered the space. “She does.” Alaric had reached the lower ground. He stopped several paces to the side, positioning himself where he could see both Alphas and Elara. Darius’s eyes narrowed. “Ironwood,” he said. “You’re far from home.” Alaric inclined his head slightly. “So are you.” Darius’s gaze flicked briefly toward the Ironwood lines, then back to Elara. “This doesn’t concern you,” he said. Alaric’s expression didn’t change.

Darius said defeatedly. I felt bad for him. His life had shattered in the past few days. His Luna turned out to be a murderer, who killed his previous mate to become the queen. His beloved son Kael was still in disheveled state after Coco, under house arrest. His one daughter in law turned out to be a witch. Alaric was a Nightshades and he was clueless about that. I wasn't saying Darius was a good person or he never did nothing wrong but his karma got back to him in a really bad way. He was left alone at his old age.

He slides off the bed and again stands in front of Summer and Nessa as he says, “Yours is of Royal Blood. He will never be King but if brought up right, he will be one strong Alpha.” He then looks at Summer and goes to say something but freezes, the colour drains from his face. With tears in his eyes, he looks up at Summer and whispers, “Mummy…” Summer then moves quickly, catching Darius as he collapses. Summer picks him up and slides her hand over him as she mumbles a spell and then sighs in relief when it's only the exhaustion catching up with him.
