The dreams came again. This time, I wasn’t a girl. I was a wolf—Nyx, full and furious—running through the forest with blood on my paws and fire in my chest. Behind me, I heard voices. Not human, not wolf. Something older. Something cracked and crawled out of the dark. She walks the path of two. She breaks what was bound. I woke with my sheets tangled and my heart thudding like a war drum. My breath fogged in the cold air of my room, and I swore I saw shadows curling beneath the door before they vanished.

The sun was totally down and the sky was pale gold in color. "Then Sarah was the one here and the killer was after her" Alex suggested with folded arms as he thought deeply. "Let's get out of here, I don't like this fog and these crows, seems creepy to me. And hell, it's getting dark" Peter said as he stared at how foggy the graveyard was getting and they agreed to what he said observing the fog and the crow too.

I carefully unwrapped the cloth and opened the book. Her handwriting was beautiful but slightly slanted with age. I flipped through the first few pages, reading bits of her life, about her mate, her people, the early days of the pack before the Great War. Then, about halfway through, I saw a heading that made my heart skip a beat. “The Beast Beneath the Mountain” I sat down, reading carefully. “There is a darkness far older than our kind. A wolf not born of the Moon, but of chaos. His name is Derek.”
