With the newly made charm necklace around my neck and the pendant tugged under my tunic, we headed out to town. Saraya was so excited she portaled us to the hem of the woods leading into Daekrahm in the North-central lands. Chanco means protectors of the night. The twilight is what they call the shadow realm. The shadow realm is the term given to the plane between day and night; it is a world within itself. The only way I can explain it is a dimension just outside of our reality.

Sometimes Morana was afraid of what she could do, or what she couldn't stop. Even though Morana's life was full of hatred and regret, the face of death was still terrifying. Time passed, and slowly the noise around Morana became only the faint background sound behind her fading consciousness. Before I can blink, the whole scenery changes. “Don’t let go of my hand,” Damien says, calmly. I squeeze his hand in fright as I find myself standing in the middle of what looks like a battlefield. Fighters are rushing past us. Blood is being splattered everywhere and I move closer to Damien, overwhelmed. “Three realms existed,” he murmurs as a blood soaked elf runs past us, stabbing a sword into a male’s back. “The demon realm, the realm of Others, and the human realm.”

Lynx's voice was raised to the max. Xena couldn't hold back the tears in her eyes as she lashed back at General lynx with the same fury, "What do you know about my family? Nothing, absolutely nothing! They just wanted to preserve their kingdom from me. Can't you see what I have become, A monster!" He chuckled darkly; with pain evident in his eyes he asked a disturbing question, "And what do you know about the dark realm?" She opened her mouth to speak but there was nothing to say. Seeing her inability to answer, he repeats her statement,

“It's not like that. It's not something you can get rid of. It's part of me; it's my other half. It's who and what I am. Don’t you see, I am the darkness! To get rid of it would be to get rid of me. I'm no good for you. I will only cause you pain and suffering. I am the darkness! I'm the monster everyone's afraid of. I'm the beast in the dark that children have nightmares of. I am the evil from the depths of hell and will only snuff out your light, little angel. You and I can never be together!” He said with a deep and rough voice. Smoke seeped from his body again, and a dark aura rose from his body like a shadow looming over her.

The heavy main door of Caden's mansion clicked shut behind me. The sound didn't offer freedom; it sealed me into a new kind of prison. The bright afternoon sun felt too harsh, mocking the darkness that had just settled deep inside me. I was outside, yes, but no longer my own. The air felt thick, heavy with the weight of the deal.
