The first few chapters described mostly things I already knew from Amanda and Ash, but then I learned more important basic information. The Dark Realm was basically Mortal Realm's twin. The sun and moon were described as the same in both realms, but they seem to have different—more powerful—effects on the creatures inhabiting this realm. The sun couldn't hurt vampires, no matter how much pure blood was running in their veins, and the moon—which I had already seen in its full glow—seemed almost magical.
