In the doorway stood a nightmare.

His face was half-charred from the penthouse fire, his hospital gown replaced by a blood-stained suit. He looked like a demon risen from the pits. He didn't look at the masked man; he looked at me.
"Nobody touches her," Dominic growled, his voice a rasp of scorched vocal cords. "She is mine to destroy."
But before he could take another step, a second figure vaulted through the broken glass wall.
Killian.
He was covered in soot, his arm wrapped in a makeshift bandage, his eyes wild with a manic, obsessive energy. He landed between Dominic and the masked man, his combat knife glinting in the moonlight.
