Dark of Night Copyright 2019 Emily Goodwin Chapter One “What do you see when you look at this one?” The doctor holds up a card, showcasing an ink splotch that’s twisted and creepy, with eyes that follow you no matter where you go. I look at it, heart hammering away inside my chest. The mess of ink on the white paper reminds me of the monster that lurks in Nana and Papa’s basement, the one that tried to get Abby and Scott to go downstairs with it.

A voice laced with anxiety; for what, I’m not entirely sure. They’re helping? How? I wish I could just open my eyes and see! Haven’t I been through enough? Hasn’t my family been enough? Gah! Just open your eyes already Deac! But no such luck. I try with every ounce of energy, my wolf’s and my own to pry my eyes open, but to no avail; I am still stuck in this zombie-like state of darkness.

*Anonymous POV* "I need to see the Dark Alpha immediately," Damon demanded, his voice cold and urgent as he faced the guards outside the Dark Alpha's castle. The Dark Alpha was infamous among the shifters, feared as the most malevolent creature. His pack consisted of rogue wolves, trained to be merciless and heartless. The Dark Alpha sought power above all else and delighted in inflicting slow, agonizing deaths on his enemies, savoring their pleas for mercy.

That pathetic girl thought she could waltz in and take everything Maeve had spent her entire life working toward. She left the main packhouse and headed for the Dark Halls. The building sat on the edge of pack territory, tucked behind a grove of trees where no one could see who came and went. From the outside it looked like an ordinary warehouse. But inside it was something else entirely. Dark Halls was a dark, lawless playground where pack members could indulge their filthiest, most twisted desires without judgment. Your identity stayed hidden, and what happened in the Dark Halls stayed in the Dark Halls.

Marcello stood before the vast, dark windows of his chambers, gazing out over the hellish expanse that stretched out below. The Hell Pit was a place of power, a fortress built on fear and bloodshed, and he had made it his kingdom. The stench of sulfur, blood, and iron hung in the air like an oppressive fog, but to Marcello, it was home. It was his dominion, a realm of suffering and control.

I grew weak, drawing close to the darkness. I heard cries of my name and the wailing of sirens in a distance. Darkness finally consumed me, I had blacked out.

When he got to the center of the book, the characters became clearer so that he could read a long forgotten story. "... and God's power became weaker. People gave themselves to their despair. Their hearts were filled with dark thoughts. What once shone in the light was bathed in darkness. Innocence threatened to succumb to sin. Heaven succumbed to it Hell. The figures of the night broke in on the innocent and stole their light. Above all ~ he ~. The darkness itself. ~ "Lucifer." ~

I saw some evaporation in the air and all I knew, I was crying while my tears evaporates as it touches my skin. “Why? Why him? It could be anyone?” The pit’s color changed from blue to violet Vandross looked at me saying, “Demons should not feel bad to a dying human. They hunt our races down and killed so many of our allies.” “But...” I haven’t finish what I want to say when Vandross suddenly tossed me inside the Pit. The whole place was covered with violet. I can’t see any other color aside from the light at the end of the pit. The moment I reached the end, the light flashed through my eyes and I started to cover my eyes.

I muttered as I turned to leave. Without another glance back, I walked out of the clinic. Leaving Blake in charge of bringing her to me, at the Darkest Dungeon. We call it the Darkest Dungeon, not because it's dark literally. But because the harshest torture happens there. Those that don't deserve an easy death... Depending on their offense, ends up there. Where I could drag out their pains for weeks, months and even years. The last person that visited the Darkest Dungeon spent a year and two months there, facing the ultimate torture by the pass of each day until I finally decided to end him.

Everything about him is dark. Dark mind. Dark heart. Dark soul. Being hated by Him is dangerous. But being wanted by Him is lethal. Get ready for a wild ride.
