"I run Team A in the Design Den at Ashbourne Holdings. I am in charge of the Silver Creek project, and this is the first drawing I made. Please look at it." I slide the big paper across the table to him. Just as I take my hand away, he lifts his head up. He blows a big ring of smoke right into my face. Cough! Cough! The smoke makes me cough loud. I look up at him, and his pitch-black eyes are staring straight at me. I feel so embarrassed that I slide back into my seat. Declan looks down at my drawing. His face tells me nothing. After a long, quiet minute, he pushes the paper away to the side of the table.

Still unable to look away. Children told the truth without meaning to. That drawing revealed more than Kai ever would. He didn’t belong here. Not in his heart. Not yet. Maybe not ever. A sound behind me made me jump. Dean. He glanced at the drawing. Then at me. “What is it?” I held it up. His eyes skimmed over it briefly. Then he shrugged. “He misses them.” That was it. Nothing more. No concern. No sadness. No guilt. Just a casual observation.

She wouldn't mind checking everything out, or whatever called her attention. There was another shelf after the award shelf. A bookshelf. It didn't contain so many books, although he had something that hooked her attention. Book of art. Clinton had a black hardcover drawing book he called Book Of Art. He used it to draw his imagination. Anthony had one too, meaning he also had an eye for art.

Chen handed him another book from beside him. Dean glanced at it and casually declined, "The last one was really good, this is enough for today. I’ll look at this one tomorrow." As he lowered his gaze to read the title of the second book, he froze. The cover was an art book, and the figures in the illustrations were—astonishingly—of him. "Wow, you really made me look good in this," Dean said, a little surprised. Chen chuckled, a glint of pride in his eyes. "Isn't it because you're good-looking?"

“But have you met her uncle?” Jaxon laughed at his brother. “Yes, yes I have.” “Yeah. He could probably kill me in his sleep and then have his construction company bury in concrete.” “And have Willow print up have you seen me flyers while he comforted mom.” “So, you have met him?” Jaxon laughed as they left the room and headed down the stairs. “Once or twice.” “What do you want me to do with the brushes?” JD asked as he looked over Dean’s shoulder. “I’ll get them.” She said setting the small box on the dining room table. Then she took the glass jar and brushes into the kitchen.

“Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Excellent book.” He sits down and begins reading. The first picture I draw is a portrait of uncle Owen’s sister with a wolf howling at the edge of a cliff at a full moon in the background. I make one for his father too. I plan to give them these at the funeral. I do similar ones of Michael to give to Carrie and one for Zuri but with a lion for the family.
