My sun necklace, given to me by my parents, so very long ago, now, sat at my throat.
My feet were still bare, but my toenails were painted a glistening gold that matched my dress, in preparation for the uncomfortably high, strappy heels that were watching me from across the room. My converse were beside them, fresh and white, ready for me to change into as soon as I stepped off the makeshift stage.
Wordlessly, Rosa passed me a clear tube of lip gloss. It smelt like strawberries as I twisted the cap open, and I applied it carefully to my pouted lips.
