I say, breaking the neutral silence. “I don’t want to back out. Despite the fact that I should hate you just because of your last name, I’ve never really seen you as an enemy.” Anthony answers. I like how he carefully chose the word enemy and not threat. He knew that if he said I wasn’t a threat to him that I would take it the wrong way. So he went with enemy to show respect. I’ve heard of how respectable Anthony is, and now that I’ve interacted with him in person, I buy it. It actually makes me like the bastard even more.

I asked again, softer this time, trying to reach her through whatever wall she had been forced to build. The man stepped forward. “I said she’s fine. Jeez.
