MARKED BY AN ENEMY

"Why are you so unfair to me,moon goddess?"She grumbled desparately, blinking her eyes countless time to stop the tears that burned her brown hazel eyes, begging for release.

"This is not healthy for my heart.It's so painful.I can't take it anymore."Alessandra's shoulders dropped in defeat.Her fragile heart ached inside her chest so painfully.

'This is what happens when you love someone but never confess what you really feel towards them.'

Alessandra scolded herself for what seemed like hundredth time. Her fragile heart twisted inside her chest as if someone was squeezing it into a tiny ball and it was becoming hard for her to breath.

She was startled when someone opened the door of her room without knocking.

The pain in her heart intensified ten folds.She didn't need to raise her head to know who the person was, there was only one person who had such kind of behaviour.

She turned her head to the other side momentarily and wiped tears from her eyes,then she put on a fake smile to.

"What the hell, Ales!"He asked through gritted teeth with a deep frown on his face.

The frown that Alessandra wanted to wipe away from his face because she was used to his cute smile which made her insides tingle.

He was mad at her because she didn't inform him that she was leaving the pack, even though they had spent the whole day and a part of the night together before he found his destined mate.

"What?"She asked with a small smile on her lips, pretending that she had no idea of what Leo was talking about. Although Alessandra was trying hard to look normal, her heart was bleeding.

"Why didn't you tell me that you were leaving the pack?"Leo asked with a slightly raised voice.

He was still mad because Ales hide the whole thing from him.

"Well, I didn't want to disturb since you had just found your mate."She paused and took a deep breath because it was not that simple to come up with a reasonable lie when her mind was so messed up.

How could Ales tell him that she didn't mention it to him because her intentions was to run away from him?

"I thought you two were busy...you know"Alessandra scratched her head awkwardly and shrugged,then continued to pack my clothes.

"I have the right to know because we have been friends for years, Alessandra!"Leo pulled the travel bag from her arms, leaving Alessandra with no distractions.

She blinked countless times to hold back tears,then raised her head slowly and met his gaze.

Ales got drowned in those brown hazel eyes that she loved so much. The eyes that held warmth,the eyes that she wanted to stare into for the rest of her life.

Oh my goodness! You need to stop this! You need to stop your stupidity because he'll never be yours.You should stop day dreaming just for once. A small sigh escaped her lips when all those thoughts clouded her mind.

"Now you know."Ales said with a smile on her face and tried to snatch her bag from Leo's hands.

However,she didn't manage to take it from him because Leo was too strong. Her energy didn't match his even a little bit.

It reminded Ales those old memories. It made her remember how he used to wrap his strong arm across her shoulders whenever Ales rested her head on his shoulders as they watched the clear sky at night.

"Why have you decided to leave, Ales?"Leo asked with creased eyebrows,his husky voice pulled her back from the fantasy world to reality, reminding Alessandra that he'll never be hers.

Alessandra knew that Leo wanted her to explain to him why she had made such a hasty decision.Well, he deserved to know the truth because he was the sole reason why Alessandra was leaving the pack.

However, it was so hard for Ales to talk without breaking down. That's why she decided to keep it to herself,it was better that way.

Furthermore, Alessandra didn't want Leo to feel guilty because he didn't read in between the lines.She wanted him to be happy with his mate.

"I remember when we were ten years old you promised me that you would forever stay with me in this pack," Leo said.

He's a pack warrior which means he can't leave the pack. It was his duty and other pack warriors to protect the pack and fight in case of an attack.

Alessandra wanted to stay with him just like she had promised when they were young.She wanted to watch him laugh out loud and kiss away tears from his eyes if he ever cried.

However, it was hard for Ales to stay because she didn't want to see him touching,kissing and laughing with another girl.

The girl that had replaced her.

There was nothing holding Ales back.She didn't see the importance of staying in the pack because her hopes of being with Leo crashed into tiny pieces when he found his destined mate yesterday night.

Alessandra has been in love with him since they were kids. However, Leo was too dumb to realise her efforts.

Alessandra tried to show him how much she loved him through her actions and jokes. However, Leo didn't take anything into consideration because he thought that Alessandra was doing it because they were best friends.

"Well, things change."She said with a smile on my lips and a small sigh escaped my lips.

"I just want to go and see the world out there. I have spent my whole life in this pack."Alexander took the bag from Leo's hand and he let it go.

Alessandra wished Leo could hold her hand and ask her to stay because he can't spend even a single day without her around him.However,it was all wishful thinking.

They were still talking when Ales's mother walked inside the room to check on her daughter..She locked eyes with Leo and they exchanged silent words.

It didn't require deep thinking to figure out their silent conversation. Leo was simply thanking Ales's mother for letting him know that she was leaving the pack.

For a moment, Alessandra felt like killing her mother because she had betrayed her. Her mother had promised that she wouldn't mention anything to Leo.

Alessandra understood that her mother had told Leo the damn truth because she didn't want complications.

"You are not yet done packing, dear?"Sarah asked her daughter with a raised eyebrow.

Sarah knew how heartbroken her daughter was when Leo found his mate, that's why she agreed to Ales's suggestion when she informed her that she wanted to go to town S to stay with her aunt for a while so that she could heal the wound in my heart.

"I'm almost done, mother."Alessandra said with a smile on her lips.Sarah nodded and walked away, giving her daughter and Leo some privacy.

Alessandra loved her mother so much because she's the only immediate family that she had in this ruthless world.

Ales's mother told her that her father died when she was two years old. He was a pack warrior

He died like a warrior.He died in the fight between the Lycan and werewolves.

Alessandra arrived in town S after six hours of travelling using a bus. She alighted the bus and boarded a taxi. An exhausted sigh escaped her lips,she leaned backwards on the taxi chair and closed her tired eyes.

The taxi stopped in front of a huge black iron gate after a fifteen minutes drive.Ales handed the taxi driver money and climbed down from the taxi, holding her leather travel bag tightly in her right arm.

She closed her eyes slightly and exhaled,when she was about to walk towards the gate, a beautiful girl materialised through it with a broad smile on her lips.

"Alessandra!"Monalisa shouted, she ran and wrapped her hands around Ales's slender body tightly,as if she was afraid that she would disappear into thin air.

"I missed you so much!"She screamed in excitement and her grip around Ales tightened even more.For a split second, Alessandra thought that she would die because Monalisa was squeezing her way too much, making it hard for her to breath freely.

"How is your mother? Oh dear,I'm so sorry about what happened to you. I bet Leo must be blind because he didn't see how beautiful you are."Lisa said in hatred,as if she was the one who was feeling the pain of heartbreak.

It reminded Alessandra of the previous night when she called Lisa, crying her eyes out and complaining non-stop.

Alessandra wanted someone to talk to. Someone who won't judge her or say anything that would deepened the wound in her heart.

And that's what her dear cousin did. She listened to Alessandra carefully and encouraged her even though her hopes had crashed into tiny pieces.

Even though it had been long since the last time they saw each other, Alessandra could tell Monalisa was still the same, talking too much and cheerful like always.

"Monalisa! Instead of inviting the visitor into the house, you're busy yelling your lungs out."Alessandra's aunt scolded her daughter.

"Can't you see how tied my niece is?"Patricia pulled her niece gently into her warm embrace and patted her back soothingly,then planted a kiss on Ales's dark hair.

Alessandra closed her eyes and inhaled her aunt's calming scent,she shared the same scent with Ales's grandmother's scent.

Patricia smelled of lily flowers.

The only difference was that Ales grandma's scent was accompanied with herbs that she loved so much.

Alessandra walked inside the gigantic house. The house was still the same, however,there was some changes here and there.

They served Alessandra her favourite dishes and she ate hungrily since she had not eaten anything during the six hours journey.

Her mind was clouded with so many things that she didn't feel like eating anything.

Alessandra, Monalisa and Patricia talked about a lot of things as they tried to catch up because it had been long since they saw each other.

2 weeks later.

"Wow!You look so beautiful in that red gown."Monalisa winked at Ales.

Alessandra rolled her eyes playfully not believing Lisa's words because she likes joking a lot.

Ales was wearing a red gown, silver heels, a silver necklace and a thin silver watch. She applied light makeup on to enhance her beauty and her black silk hair was tied into a tight ponytail.

"Ready?" Monalisa asked with a raised eyebrow.Ales heaved a sigh before nodding my. Nervousness was getting the better of her because she was not used to parties.

Alessandra agreed to accompany Lisa to the birthday party because there was nothing fun to do.She wanted to distract her mind with something else rather than recalling the reason why she ran away from the pack each time she was all alone.

They walked out of the room and descended the grand staircase. Monalisa's mother lectured the girls before they left the house, reminding them to take care and not to drink that much.

Alessandra stared out of the window, admiring beautiful paintings on street walls as the car moved.

Her heart ached each time she could see couples holding hands, it reminded her of all the things she had ever imagined doing to Leo.

The girls arrived at the party after a thirty minute drive. Alessandra tried her best to put on a smile each time Lisa introduced Ales to her friends.

Most people who attended the party were dressed in expensive clothes and jewels.

"Just stay by my side, okay,"Lisa told Ales and she nodded with a small smile on my lips.

"I'm being serious.Your aunt will kill me if anything happens to her brother's daughter."Monalisa said and Alessandra rolled her eyes for a hundredth time.

Ales sat on the wooden chair since she couldn't stand any longer. Monalisa was busy scanning the room as she tried to spot the birthday girl so that she could wish her a happy birthday and give her the present.

"Can you wait for me here? I need to give this to the birthday girl."Lisa showed Ales the present that was wrapped neatly with a silver paper wrap.

"No problem. Go ahead."She wave her hand in dismissal. She grabbed a bottle of water from the table and opened it carefully, making sure the water didn't spill on her gown.

When Alessandra was about to drink the water. A strong scent filled her nostrils which made her insides stir.

She turned her head to the exit and saw a man walking in with a black suit which fitted him perfectly and he had sharp features.

He looked in Ales's direction and their eyes locked. Her heart pounded wildly when she stared in those alluring ocean blue eyes.
