Rage came through the screens in walls of text. My mother heard the forensic specialist's declaration and let out a sound that didn't belong to a rational creature. "You're lying. She was fighting in that arena just now." "She is the perfect warrior I built with my own two hands. She is the thing that was supposed to turn my life around." "You're the killers. You killed my daughter." She lunged at the specialist with both hands, dark red nails raking at their face.

“Lyra.” I couldn’t answer. My whole body was shaking. Somewhere far away, I knew Cassian would have felt it too. Not the truth. Only the break. Only the sharp, false shock of a bond snapping into death. At that same moment, miles away, Cassian stopped cold in Selene’s doorway. His face drained. One hand flew to his chest. For a single brutal second, the mate bond turned into a blade and drove straight through him. Then it was gone.

Arthur's POV I hesitated at the warrior's words but then I agreed. “Fine but you better make it quick.” We walked outside and then the warrior began to speak. “Gamma you're not going to believe me when I tell you this but the Beta is dead.” I froze up immediately, “What do you mean? Zaria is clearly alive.” “When we were at the battle front, I was trying to find a leeway so I hid somewhere and found the Beta get stabbed by some woman who I'm guessing is a witch.”

Kate shifted into a white wolf, murder gleaming in her eyes. They slammed into each other like clashing storms. Claws tore through flesh while fangs shattered bone. Blood drenched the floor as their screams echoed through the vaulted stone. Enforcers tried and failed to separate them. Katherine clamped down on Kate's throat, but Kate's paw punched straight through Katherine's chest and churned. "Go to hell... You... You fake..." Kate gasped, grinding her claws in. Katherine's wolf collapsed. When she shifted back, she was already dead, a gaping hole where her heart had been.

I spat at him while I shook with anger this time and that made him snicker. “Do you mean the alpha Damon that I shot about ten times and watched him bleed to his death? Sweet Jenny, your alpha Damon is dead. Stop being so delusional and accept it. No one is coming to save you” he said as he ran his forefinger down the side of my face again and I shook his finger off my face before I glared at him while breathing shakily. “You son of a bitch! I’m going to kill you myself if he is really dead so don’t think you have won, this is not the end” I screamed at him with all the anger in me and all he did was laugh. That only made me angrier.

Pulling from his harsh lock on me I turned my head, sliding my canines deep within his throat. A gurgle whimper was there before silence. My head thrashing back and forth roughly when the large weight of what I had been feeling just disappeared. Looking down, his body lay lifeless. Opening my jaw a chunk of fur, skin, and blood fell from me. It happened so fast, faster that I thought it would as I realized that I had just killed Christopher, the Beta, my ex mate.

“We were going to keep you out of it. But I think you need to do more than just see him die. You’re going to kill him.” Tears streamed down her cheeks. It was naive for her to ever think that he wouldn’t be as bad as Darren. How was she going to survive the two of them? She clawed at his fingers to free herself of the increasing pain that was shooting through her forearm. “Enough!” He snapped and her hand dropped. His alpha tone hit her so hard she couldn’t even form a thought to fight it. She was left with nothing but surprise at the fact that it worked. Dane pulled his ringing phone out of his pocket and brought it to his ear.

"Then who did you kill?" "No one. I killed no one because I was busy running for my life, and yeah, fucking the beta." Set gave me the 'crazy look'. "There was a twist in the game, one I wasn't expecting, and it turned out that Diego, the Beta of the Blood Moon Pack, is my mate," I said, waiting for some reaction from Set. "What?" Alpha screams in anguish, his cries echoing throughout the room. “You devil,” he roars. “How dare you murder my beloved daughter?” Alpha lunged at me, his face red with rage. “You have no right to kill Elena. I’m going to kill you.” He attacks me. I smirk. I can’t wait to have a proper fight with him. I dodge his attacks with ease, reveling in the fight's thrill. He’s strong, but I can tell I’m much more powerful. I know with one swift blow, I can end this battle. He believes I am still the same girl he wanted to murder back then. I laugh at his naivety. I keep avoiding his attacks, and he becomes more furious than before.

“If you want revenge, then stay alive. And the only way to do that is to remain here, let them believe you’re dead, and survive until you give birth. Otherwise, you won’t last.” With that, Death turned and walked away, his shadow swallowing the doorway behind him. Deli sank to her knees, the tears refusing to fall even though her chest burned with agony. Her husband. The man she had no memory of…he was behind all of it. They all wanted her dead. The weight crushed her as her body shook, a single tear finally sliding free. Outside, Death shut the door and found Ymir waiting. She stood still, her expression unreadable, though her eyes revealed she had heard everything.
