A YEAR WITH THE BILLIONAIRE

A YEAR WITH THE BILLIONAIRE

Isabella isn't in the room and I glance around, wondering where she has gone when I hear the shower running. She must be in the bathroom. I was thinking she had gone somewhere else in embarrassment of what she had done to humiliate me but it's ok. I understand that she is only trying to help. I am thinking of going out to give her enough time to come out and get dressed when my gaze falls on the book on the sectional sofa. It looks like a novel so I pick it up. The title is MAIL-ORDER BRIDE and it looks like a romantic novel from the 20th century. I can figure it out from the cover of the book which has a bride and a man in a frock.

Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right

Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right

A spotlight shone down, and a flash of red caught Juan's eye. Debra's red dress was bold and eye-catching, but on her, it felt completely natural. Like any debutante, she looked a bit shy. Juan was captivated by her flawless features and refined temperament. She seemed to deserve every beautiful word in the world. An unexpected pang of pain struck his chest. It was a feeling he had never experienced before, like his heart was stolen. "Thank you all for coming to my 18th birthday celebration. I've prepared a piano piece for everyone. I'm not great at the piano, but I hope you'll like it," Debra said shyly, casting her eyes downward.

I really like this book but why is it being dragged so much? Debra keeps getting herself in weird situations like the Island kidnapping and then her engagement kidnapping. I get the authors are paid by pages but if it’s too dragged then the readers eventually lose interest and move to finished books

The Heiress Reborn

The Heiress Reborn

Her publicist even joked, “You know, Eva, if you did write that book, it would be a bestseller in a week.” She smiled and tapped her pen on her journal. “Maybe not how to chase a man…” she said thoughtfully, “but how to stop running after the wrong ones.” That, she thought, might be worth writing. Tally soon saw the hot topic blazing across the internet, plastered with headlines like: “Mysterious Millionaire Sends Lavish Gifts to Eva – The Nation’s New Darling?” “From Castaway to Queen: Eva’s Stunning Comeback”

Desired by the Billionaire Brothers

Desired by the Billionaire Brothers

Veronica's POV: I stepped into the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel, and immediately felt the pressure of dozens of eyes turning toward me. The Debutante Ball was everything I'd expected and worse... women were in designer gowns that cost more than cars, men in perfect tuxedos discussing mergers over champagne. Most were old money, and some of them new money. All were gathered to be seen and validated by the elite society. I felt uneasy in my skin as I felt their judgmental gazes on me.

The Billionaire's Anonymous Bride.

The Billionaire's Anonymous Bride.

The silverware gleamed under the soft light, and the wine glasses were polished to a shine. Lucien’s mother, Jane, was already seated at the table. She didn’t look like a woman who was easily impressed. She wore a dark silk dress and pearls, her posture as sharp as a blade. Her eyes, the same piercing color as Lucien’s, immediately went to their joined hands. “Two years,” Margaret said, her voice smooth but cool. She didn’t stand up. “Two years of living abroad, Evelyn, and now you finally return to us. I began to wonder if my son was married to a woman or a ghost.”

The tragic supporting actress in the Duke's household

The tragic supporting actress in the Duke's household

I followed the protagonist of the day, Claire, down the stairs. Today is Claire's sixteenth birthday and her debutante ball. She is wearing a dark red dress with a floor-length skirt that looks like flower petals. Her burgundy hair is pulled back in a bun, and a pair of ruby earrings sparkle in the bright lights of the ballroom. She is dignified and graceful, yet incredibly beautiful. I looked behind her and felt lost. In the novel, Inette should not have attended this ball. After all, before she turned sixteen, the Duke's mansion had never acknowledged the existence of a child like her. So, am I standing here now, does it mean that I have already taken a different path?

Her Racing Heart

Her Racing Heart

He gave her a small smile when he noticed her stare and she quickly averted her eyes. "There will be a debutante ball on Friday to mark the coming out of the Crown Princess, She never had one in Dullard since she lived abroad in her twenties" The Queen announced. "Debutante Balls still exist?" Anda asked. "Of course, This time.. it's simply based on charity events and showing off the latest silk and how wealthy you are but of course young maidens always find their soulmates during the dance" The Queen smiled. "Your sister met her husband at last year's debutante ball, Francesca De Charley, Maureen Alonso and lots of maidens all got taken last year and this year will be special because it's a

The League of Rogues

The League of Rogues

The two fell in step, walking leisurely to the library in order to give the staff time to prepare and catch up. "But still, Charles was far too rude, and I will not allow such impertinent behavior inside my house." Emily raised her chin angrily. How far she has come, Anne thought with pride. To be such a young debutante and then a duchess half a year later, she played the part well and would only get better at it. "Please don't trouble yourself on my account. I would much rather prove Lord Lonsdale wrong by showing my dedication to my fiancé."

Ghosts of Southampton

Ghosts of Southampton

It was by far the loveliest dress her mother had ever allowed her to own, and she had spent half the night before wide awake thinking of all the awful things that could happen to it like if she spilled something on it or tore the train. Meg spoke pleasantries to several other young ladies, many of whom she had known for years. There were others that she hadn’t met yet, but all of their names sounded familiar. Some of them had come from as far away as London and even New York City for the event, including Madeline Force and her family, whom Meg recognized as one of the socialites she actually recognized from the papers. When Meg had a chance to talk to the young debutante, she found her quite
