Deena rounded the corner and walked towards the center of the catwalk system. Just then she spotted the box still hanging from the ceiling, but docked to the catwalk and empty. Deena was so pissed when she realized that no one was there. That little jerk Josh had been lieing to her the whole time. "I knew it," she said out loud to herself, "that wasn't Caine and Della in that box at all." Deena strained her eyes and started to look around for other people in the area where she was. Suddenly she caught sight of some movement across the catwalk. It was to dark to make out exactly who or what was moving, but Deena felt a burst of hope in her heart.

Deena was trying with all of her strength to keep Della from running through the river of dragon blood with her bare feet, while not hurting either of the babies that they were both carrying in their wombs. The fairy was instantly filled with remorse as she watched it all unfold. She was in a state of complete horror and shock, and she couldn't stop herself from weeping no matter how hard she tried. Just then she saw Caine's boys moving in from all sides. She watched excitedly as John and Josh brought the whole team in out of nowhere. They were fully armed and clearly mad as hell. Christian was nowhere to be seen. A lump formed in her throat. She wanted to run, to scream, but fear rooted her in place. The figure drew closer, revealing a grotesque, blood-covered face. Kathleen screamed and bolted downstairs, only to be confronted by a little girl with a sinister smile and a filthy doll, her eyes bleeding. She was quiet for a long moment. “I had another dream,” she said softly. My body tensed. “The Rogue King?” “No.” She tilted her head to look at me. “The hunt. Tomorrow. The forest. Something's coming, Nicholas. Something bad.” I wanted to tell her she was mistaken. That she was exhausted. That her mind was playing tricks on her. But she was in my arms. And she was trembling. “You're safe here,” I said instead. “I don't think anywhere is safe anymore.”

A scream tore through Lilith's lips, and she crawled away from the grave in sheer terror, panting heavily. As fear consumed her, Lilith felt a presence behind her. Slowly, she turned around, trembling with trepidation. To her astonishment, the dead girl stood there, her sad expression unchanged. They locked eyes, but the dead girl remained silent, her ghostly presence sending shivers down Lilith's spine. Overwhelmed by the sight of the apparition, Lilith rose to her feet and scrambled out of the woods, screaming in fear with each step.

[Faye] I know it might sound strange, I still am and have always been a little afraid of the dark. Actually no, that’s not quite accurate. Terrified would be the appropriate word. Terrified of the dark. I know all little kids fear the dark a little bit at some point, but the terror I feel go beyond the regular childhood fears of monsters under the bed or in the closet. The students had never encountered such a ghastly scene before in their own eyes and young lives. It scared the living daylights out of them and made them almost pissed their pants. Shane did introductions between Deon and Nadia and watched them shake hands. Deon smiled at Nadia warmly and naturally. Nadia came over to me after. Shane, for some reason, subtly repositioned himself so he was standing between them. I looked at the ceiling briefly. “What are we seeing?” Nadia asked, reading the board outside with her nose slightly scrunched. “Hollow Ground,” Deon said. “Supposed to be terrifying.” “Wonderful,” Nadia said, in a voice that meant the opposite. “Shane loves horror,” Deon said.

Deena’s voice trembled, a mixture of rage and burgeoning terror. “I’ve just shared a good thing, Auntie. You always taught me to share.” Harper’s eyes never left her, a strange hunger in their depths. “And you love it, don’t you? That’s why you do it.” Another boy, broader, with a thick neck, moved closer, his hand reaching out, his fingers brushing against her arm. Deena flinched, a shiver running through her. The simple touch sent a jolt, both repellent and undeniably arousing, through her.
