The crowd erupted. On the massive center screen, the game launched. The graphics were breathtaking—fluid, shimmering, and complex.
For the first ten minutes, the score skyrocketed. They breached the top 3. Gabriel leaned against the podium, a smug grin directed toward the VIP box where I sat, motionless.
Then, the music stuttered.
At Level 14—the exact point where the recursive logic I had intentionally left unoptimized kicked in—the frame rate plummeted.
Level 15: The character’s movements became jerky.
