Enjoy the refreshments and our new facility!” Another round of clapping and the crowd dispersed. Mark stood nearby talking to a few of the Alpha Guard. I sat down in a vacated seat on the podium to take it all in. I heard a low murmur behind me. “It will become a source of additional healing, broaden our ability to train, expand our capacity for healing classes…” Deidre was seated a few rows back, hair glossed and coiffed, a new suit ironed to the nines on her petite frame. She looked nervous.

However, I suspected one day I would. My feelings for Deacon had been put to the test more than ever. Kendra was a thing of the past, but he’d begun dating someone new in May—Rachel. It's around three in the afternoon, so I've got a few hours to brainstorm with him. After taking a shower, I go in search of him. And her heels were at least three inches high. Her dark hair was down with small, tight curls that grazed her bare shoulder. Derek had opted to wear something subtle. He wanted to blend in. He didn’t want whoever ran the place to know the owner of the best nightclub in New York was their checking out his place.

"Wow dear, this looks amazing! I love it. Thank you. Let's eat." We started eating and silence descended on us. One time I almost choked on a spoon full as I looked up only to notice Duke staring at me. The deafening silence was thankfully broken by alpha Donald. "Not to judge you or anything, this new look might actually be good for you, to help you keep your confidence up and make people look at you with more respect, but...
