Reya’s POV The neutral zone was a silent field at dusk—a flat island of truce between Riverdale and Bloodborn territory, marked only by broken steles half-buried in tall grass. Warriors stood at its edges: my Unmarked in ragged formation one side, Riverdale soldiers in pristine armor the other, along with their Luna envoy and two betas. Alpha Tristan emerged first, stepping between both lines. His teeth were tight, eyes bright with urgency. He scanned the gap, then met my gaze. "Reya."

If this was any indication, it simply meant he was paying attention to me. “Our pack has been without a Luna for the longest time, and while others would crumble in the absence of that particular pillar, we have stayed strong. All thanks to our Alpha.” I was pouring out my feelings and I hoped to the goddess it would work out in my favor. It had to.

Nobody has ever been made an Alpha Luna before. “I, Darius Colt Barnett, hereby pledge to share my role as Alpha with Diamond Joy Stone, making her Alpha Luna from today, and for all days, until she so chooses to relinquish the role.” Darius slices his palm with the dagger, allowing his blood to trickle into the chalice for me to drink. “Diamond, do you pledge to be the Alpha Luna of the Running River Pack?”

He said, handing Alpha Maxwell a document called Operation Delta. Operation Delta Subject: Iris Delta AKA: Runt of the Delta Line Possibly the Heiress of the Blackthorne Line being raised by the Delta family, and being raised by Marla and Clyde Delta, Clyde Delta is Alpha Maxwell’s Delta of his Alpha unit, their son Jon Delta is heir to the Delta line and should become the Delta in the Quad’s Alpha Unit.

Every command, every hesitation, every subtle glance was a piece of the puzzle I intended to unravel. From my pocket, I fingered the folded notes, coded messages intended to reach Delph. The tunnels beneath Bloodstone were labyrinthine and treacherous, but I had secured a route. I would send the letters, trusting in the bond that had once carried the Alpha across a broken pack. Dustin said, lowering his head as Darien looked up from the computer he was working at. "Right on time Al, I think we found something." He remarked seriously. I cocked my brow. "Already?"

Before I could finish my sentence, my phone buzzed and then Della’s phone buzzed. “Who would be texting me right now?” Della asked. She glanced at her phone and snorted. “What’s wrong?” I asked. “It’s going to ruin your morning, but fine, see for yourself,” Della replied as she handed me her phone. On the screen was a link to a video. The caption read: Shadowclaw Pack’s Luna Publicly Apologizes for Slander. Without a word, I tapped the link.

“It has your name on it.” Drake took it. The moment his fingers brushed the paper, his expression turned glacier-cold, his dark eyes narrowing into slits. “From the blood stain on the seal, I’m guessing it’s from Blood Pact,” Marcus muttered, a muscle twitching in his cheek. “I see that.” Drake’s voice was dangerously calm. He tore the envelope open and pulled out a single sheet of parchment. The letters were crude, jagged, and painted in a dark, rusting red blood.

CHAPTER THREE HUNTER’S POV Nightfall approached quicker than I had anticipated and from where I sat peeling a tangerine while watching crackles of the open fire I’d built outside the house; I couldn’t help but think about her rather beguiling yet strange and dangerous predicament. It was almost suicidal. My eyes involuntarily settled on her face across the fire. The flames caressed her face and once again, I found myself clawed with a certain hunger. Fuck! She was not mine and I knew better than to cross that damn alpha. She had her knees drawn up against her, hugging them while staring into the flames, a distant look in the green of her eyes. Every second feels borrowed. “Go ahead,” the agent says. I slide the bag closer and break the seal. The paper slides out smooth and confident, like it was never afraid of being found. The ink is dark. Precise. Each letter carved, not written. Selene Hart doesn’t rush. My jaw locks before I even read the words. Rylan stands behind me, leaning against the wall. I feel him tense without looking back. “That look,” he says quietly, “means trouble.” “It means war,” I answered. Then I unfold the paper. No greeting. No threat. Just numbers. Coordinates.
